bloomin' blood pressure

Posted by NikkiT2 on August 2, 2005, at 8:07:06

So my blood pressure has decided to take another trip down to looowww...

Had a splitting 24 hour headache that is only just passing, and gone all dizzy and woozy..

I hate this.. and this week is SO the wrong week for it to happen..

Need to raise it.. maybe I need to coat everything I eat in salt for a while!!

Any ideas of raising it?

Friday is the big day when I find out whetehr or not everything will go ahead with this new job.. Keeping my fingers very very crossed..

Work is very very busy.. I'm coping much better better with the whole bomb thing at the moment, but it has given us loads of extra work to do as we're having toc oordinate the mental health response london wide..

I'm off for a lie down.. bought a trashy mag to read.. always does me good!!

Hi, Nikki,

I don't know for sure, since I'm not a doc, but my boyfriend recently had a fainting spell because his blood pressure was too low and the doc attributed it to being dehydrated. His blood pressure was different if he was laying down, sitting, or standing.

So maybe drinking a whole bunch of water/juice?

I hope you feel better soon....

Since this happened the last time I've tried really ard to stay well hydrated.. I drink 3 litres a day.. one cup of coffee in the morning is the only caffiene I have - and I always drink the same amount in water before I drink the coffee.. I drink the rest in half plain water, and half with a fruit cordial in (I can' drink the no added sugar stuff as I have a problem wit aspartame, but the stuff I drink is just concentrated pure fruit juice, no nasty additives).. But it seems I am still getting dehydrated.. I can't drink any more really as I've just been diagnosed with a hiatus hernia which means I can't allow my stomach to get full..

Its also the heat.. seems it always gets worse when its hot..

Argh, I'm sorry!

I dunno what else to tell you. *Although* I have gotten sick from drinking *too* much water/fluids and therefore not having enough sodium in my system. I got nauseated and felt faint and dizzy. Maybe you *do* need some serious salting! :-)

I hope you are feeling better soon....

Nikki,

I'll send you 10 points by express mail! Meanwhile, how about some Gatorade? Maybe a salty sports drink would help. I have GERD myself and find it helps if I sip something all day. :-)

And yup, I'm dehydrated!

Apparently, for some people, water isn't enough..

I have to get some re-hydration sachets (salty, sugary things.. eurgh!) and have two a day to try and keep my hydration levels up..

We'll see if this works!!

Try some sports drinks, maybe? Um, what was that stuff, Lucozade? Maybe cut it with some water if it's too sweet? Or barley water? Can't have our Nikki falling down!

hi Nikki,
I'm sorry to hear about your blood pressure. I guess it's a good excuse to eat some tasty salty snacks, and I hope you can enjoy it. I wish I had advice, but my blood pressure tends to the high side so I'm not sure how to deal with the low. Does your doctor have any advice?

I hope you're being safe. Enjoy the magazines and take care of yourself. I hope you're feeling better soon!
