sitting here waiting for endless time to pass

Posted by sobstory on August 27, 2004, at 9:54:27

I don't like to do anything. I just want to sit here and do nothing while I'm at work. The thought of work pains me, the thought of doing anything pains me. I just want to sit and do nothing, let my thoughts wander as I stare into space. I could watch mindless TV all day and night and not move off the couch. I feel so brain dead and spaced out, no motivation for life or activity. What kind of life is this? Where is mine? It's all been zapped out of me. My head feels all tingly and numb. I'm unable to think.

Hi, I've not met you on the board before. It's so sad that you feel this way though I can really relate.
Are you on an antidepressant, by any chance?

I am feeling the same way. Concentration is a REAL battle. I just want to sleep, or stay in bed. Thinking requires energy and I haven't got any. I just want to be in what I call "the safest place in the world" and that's my husband's arms. I just want to curl up in his arms and stay there forever.
I am so tired!

I'm still waiting for an answer, SAW. I didn't go away just because you didn't post me back. You too sobstory, just so you know.

Hi Susan

I am in South Africa, so there is probably a time delay in receiving posts.

I have felt like this on and off since my breakdown 4 years ago. I did improve for a while and thought I was "fixed", then relapsed in a major way this year. And was so frustrated at the relapse because of getting married and feeling unhappy when I should be so happy. My husband also battled to understand but is supportive nonetheless.

Now I find that where I used to be so productive, I could just sit and stare or channel hop on the TV. It takes so much energy to get to the tasks at hand. Truly yukky side of depression as due to the lack of exercise, I have gained weight and all the wobbly bits are bothering me! (.....then there's the drinking .........)!

Guess I'm just feeling a bit sorry for myself right now.

Regards
Sabrina

Definitely, Sabrina. I'm sorry it's like this for you right now. Did I ask you if you're on an AD?

Hi sobstory:)

I feel like that sometimes, the sad part about it is I am at peace when I feel that way.

How often do you not feel this way?

Why was this re-directed? I was just expressing how I feel so unmotivated and empty, exhausted and awful because of my depression.

I understand, but it didn't seem to me to have to do with psychology or psychotherapy, which are the focus at Psycho-Babble Psychology. Does that make more sense?

Bob
