A Babe,

It's hard to tell if it is the meds or not, because stress can mess up our minds and our bodies. Hang in there and make sure you are taking good care of yourself (eating right, getting enough rest, doing things that YOU enjoy, etc). Let us know how you are doing

God bless,

Hey yo-yo's,

How is everyone doing? I have been on vacation this week and running ragged with the kids etc... So how are all my friends feeling? I myself are feeling a little anxious lately like the meds are wearing off but I am praying that it's just a phase and it will go away.

How is Jlynne doing? Has anyone heard from her if anyone has please send my condolences and tell her that she is in my prayers.

Simus how are you doing?

Anakin I have not yet received your wedding pictures and when I tried to go to that site you sent it won't let me view anything....did you get my pictures? If not send me your email and I will send them to you.

How's the other bride it should be time for her - is it this weekend or next?

Trucker I love your reasons for going back to school the inspector thing is great. I come from a family of truck drivers - father, grandfather, all my uncles, cousins and yes my husband. They all drive the big rigs. I always wanted to learn how to drive one myself - maybe someday.

Mags where have you been and how are you feeling?

Mystic and Mrs. C I wrote you guys personally and I love you both so much and of course my lexy chanel girl I love her too you guys are my personal angels and to all of the yo-yos I have forgot...sorry I feel so brain dead today. Well I am going to go and pack, its my husbands birthday and I am taking him away for the weekend tomorrow and not coming back until Monday night so I will check in again later but if I don't catch up with you guys before I leave tomorrow then I will talk to you Monday night.

Love to all and I hope everyone is feeling great.

Can you tell me the name of the book to get for atkins? Will it tell me what I can and cannot eat? Today I had 2 pieces of bacon, grilled salmon and asparagus, some cheddar cheese cubes and a taco salad with rotel cheese dip (no shell or beans) I think this is good and I have looked up stuff but am just not sure, want to be a good low carb girl!!!
Thanks, I swear I will stop bugging you.

Lexy, your food sounded very good for Atkins. It was pretty easy wasn't it? The book is "Dr.Atkins New Diet Revolution" you can get it at Walmart for 5.99. Well worth it, tells you everything you want to know. Good Luck and you are NOT bothering me at all. Glad to help. mrs. C

Carbs make me retain water, and thus lowering carb intake is like a diuretic.

Looks real good!
I have the whole two weeks maped out for my induction part.
I have lost 15 lbs since Jan 2004.
I like it too.
The key is to stay away from coffee, sugar and wheat.
To focus on protein, veggies (low starch) and oils.
Adding fish oil. Use antioxidents...especially if you eat bacon...make sure your meat doesn't have nitrates, dyes, antibiotics, growth hormones or preservatives.
It takes time to loose weight too. you need to be patient.
I have been on a diet for 7 months and all I have lost is 15lbs. It's slowed down to a pound a month.
I am on induction for 2 weeks then back to being more daring but not reckless. I don't eat sugar anymore at all. I added CLA recently.

You have to learn your body and it's needs. Maybe you are the kind of person who can't eat red meat?
Or fish?
or soy beans?
We all have similar but different needs. And our needs change. So be mindful and watch your body it is very smart.
Good luck and I love chatting about this topic.

Can someone tell me what ***trigger*** means

I have seen the word ***trigger*** or ***trigger potential*** in the "subject" in other threads. What does that mean? Where are the guidelines for using it?

Thanks,

Hey Simus,
When you put trigger *Trigger* it shows a subject that may be sensitive to people. Eating Disorders, Sexual Abuse, Suicide ect. Sometimes hearing about these things can trigger someone to act on them or bring up painful memories that may harm progress ect. Hope this clears is up some!

Hey Jai,
My plan was to go though carb induction then get on weight watchers to help keep it off. I started the "atkins" on Thursday and by saturday morning I was screaming at people and crying, I have battled with depression and hypoglycemia. I think that when I stopped eating sugar it really harmed me. I am not sure if you are familiar with hypoglcemia but it is naturally low blood sugar which can cause depression and anxiety (lovely). I have read that after a while the low carb thing stabilizes your blood sugar and is good for hypoglycemics but I could not get to it. I am going back on weight watchers. I lost 20lbs in about 2 months it was easy, I ate chocolate cake, pizza, mexican and sushi...all my favorite foods and still lost weight. I kept it off for over a year then got depressed and just did not care anymore that plus the lexapro helpped me put on about 7 lbs. I am now getting back on WW and going to try hard to get it off. Anyway, sorry this is so long winded, maybe you could consider WW and we could be each others support...just a thought, no matter best of luck with your weight loss battle and congrats on your 15lbs. That is wonderful!!!
Cheers!

Trucker, don't give up on it yet! It sounds like a great diet, and you are doing so well. You have all of the on-line support for the South Beach Diet too. The first thing to go on almost any diet other than a high carb diet is water, but the weight will come off. Could you please give it a little longer? Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks for the scale to really move after the initial water weight loss. But it will move. Could you give it at least another week or two?

Lexy,

I am so sorry you felt so bad. I know EXACTLY what you are talking about.

In spite of what the "experts" say, I don't stop eating carbs "cold turkey". I think that is just too hard on our systems, especially for those of us who are on psychiatric meds. I think it is better to wean ourselves off of carbs. I keep a few of the healthier carbs handy like orange juice, nuts, raisins, even tortilla chips, but no refined sugar or white flour though (except maybe for a little semi-sweet chocolate), for when my blood sugar starts to drop. In a few days, I am able to reduce even these carbs and feel better again. I think it actually takes a couple of weeks to adjust to low carb eating.

I wish you the best. Keep us informed.

Simus

i quit the south beach diet.. all i lost was water weight.. i can take a pill and loose that with out being hungry.. i am going to the tried and true grapefruit and salad.. i know it works.. since my glands and things are all messed up with the polycystic ovarian syndrom it makes it exceptionally hard to loose weight.. so i must do what works for me..

Hi all. Mystic I have the same problem with memory. Mine has been terrible since the Lex. At least that is what I am blaming it on. lol Anyway I cant remember what I did an hour ago sometimes, that is scarey. I also am tired of the roller coaster ride with the lex. I feel good for awhile and then I fell horrible. I feel spacey and wierd and very out of it sometimes, then on the other hand I feel good and can handle alot more than I uas to. I dont get it. I am just tired of the ride. I want to feel good alot mre than I do. I am hoping with time on this drug we all will. I am still praying for all of you. I also am having palpatations and dizziness, oh the joy of being a woman on lex and menapausing at the same time lol. Well all I am gonna go for now I hope you all have a great week and are feeling good, Love ya, Ali

> My memory is terrible

I had the same problem with Lexapro. My memory improved greatly when I went off Lex. And no memories were permanently "lost" as I had feared.

> I think it is Lynda that is on welbutrin but she is away for the week so didnt know if anyone had any luck with that before...

I think Lynda went off Lex completely and starting Wellbutrin. That's what I did. I think Trucker is on Lex and Wellbutrin. We will have to ask her. She seems to be doing very well with her meds.

Mystic, we understand that you are "down" because of medicine problems. I think most of us have been there. You have given Lex a more-than-fair try. So maybe you should consider talking to your doctor about a med change.

How did therapy go Friday???

God bless,

Trucker,

How did you feel on the South Beach Diet??? Were you hungry? I have been looking around at the various diets, but I haven't committed to just one yet...

Yeah, I hear polycystic ovaries make women gain weight easily and then losing weight really tough.

Best of luck - let us know how you are doing.
