Best Wardrobe Malfunctions poll

Posted by gardenergirl on February 3, 2004, at 20:24:28

Okay, in the spirit of that "titilating" Super Bowl half-time performance, I've got a question. What is the most embarrassing wardrobe malfunction you have had?

I'll go first. I was giving an inservice to a group of nurses' aides. I was wearing a molded cup front hook bra. You guessed it, the bra came unhooked while I was standing in front of the group doing my shtick. I tried to hold the cups in place with my upper arms while I was talking, but I think I wound up looking like I had four breasts as they shifted to the outside!

Oh well, I guess I could win the poise points in the PB pageant, because I just went on talking.

Who's next?

I walked out of the ladies room at school and heard "hey lady." I was 22 and thought can't be me, so I just kept on heading into class. When I got into the classroom the voice said "your skirt's tucked into your pantyhose" as she passed by the door. I didn't have undwear on. At least I didn't moon the class.

Oh, I've got these beat with a stick! I was practicing, as I was on the swim team in high school and I was fooling around after practice on the diving board. Our pool was surrounded by glass and many students would frequently watch the swimteam practice early in the morning. I jumped up on the diving board and everyone was giggling. When I landed in the water, I thought everyone was laughing because of my dive, so I did it again. After I did it the second time, I realized the rear end of my swim suit had busted out and everyone who was watching could see my arse! And I was up there jumping around, giving them quite a show, as I am a show-off you know..

I can't compete with these, but one time when I was about 13 I was at church when the elastic on my slip gave out. I just stepped out of it and picked it up and handed it to my mom. She found it very amusing. It wouldn't have been terribly embarrassing now, but I was 13, and it was church, and my skirt was somewhat transparent.

I feel like I'm blocking something more embarrassing. If it comes to me I'll let you know.

I just remembered one far more disturbing!!! I was wearing fishnet thigh highs and since I have CHICKEN-FRICKEN- LEGS I was at an appointment with Bubba and I was walking to his office and my thigh highs weren't properly fastened. So, as I was walking into his office, one fell down completely............ Oh, no!!! Will you cry with me??? I politely said, "Well, it appears as though my stocking has slipped and I must refasten it. Do you mind? (Now, how sexy is that????) He said, "Well, I'll go get some water and you can stay in the office and fix it." He left and I thought I might barf in his trash can.... Oh, the shame.... I thought for sure I'd buried that deep in my unconscious, but it appears to have resurfaced.... THANKS GUYS!!
BTW, my fishnets were white and he didn't knock before reentering the room... Maybe he was trying to sneak a peek??? :) Maybe I'm just remembering wrong :(

Wow, I was embarrassed by mine, but it didn't invovle nudity. I did hear a story of one teaching assistant who's pants fell down while he was writing on the board. That must be awful! My worst teaching experience invovled someone throwing up on the first day of class. I figure any day no one throws up is a good class!

Okay Babblers, check those seams, zippers, sizes, etc. before heading out the door. And KK, white fishnet stockings??? Poor Bubba.

Just the other evening, I discovered that the new pants I'd been wearing all day at work still had one of those adhesive strip labels, with the size printed all up and down it (the kind that they put on clothes that are sold folded up on tables rather than hanging on racks), stuck on the back of the right leg. My jacket might have obscured about 20% of it but the rest was in plain view for all to see--

>What is the most embarrassing wardrobe malfunction you have had?

BTW, this was a brilliant question to ask.

Also BTW, I think the use of the acronym WMD to refer to weapons of mass destruction is going to be displaced by its use to mean "Wardrobe Malfunction Debacle". Or maybe "Wardrobe Malfunction Day" as in "bad hair day", etc.

Wardrobe and pool are two words that just don't mix.
Imagine executing a perfect dive from the high board. So proud, feeling great, and at the bottom of the deep end of the pool.
Looking down, there is some missing textile. Looking up, "Oh, it's coming down". Waiting, waiting, how long will the breath last? Hearing "They're not coming up!" Praying. "God, Please dont let them come." Finally, the textile is replaced, getting to the top, and breathing, not just a sigh, but whole-hearted gasp of relief.
Lesson to learn.... 20 feet of water can do wonders for concealing defects.

Did you say you were a teacher? Now this is getting a bit coincidental because my pscyh. teacher has said a number of things in class that you have said on the boards... I'm becoming curious... Maybe my teacher reads or posts on these boards too. You don't have to answer this, but really, it's quite a coincidence.

My first two years in grad school I taught as a TA. I have also taught in another profession for a couple of years at a two year college. I always wonder if I will encounter someone I know on these boards. Are you in the midwest?

Yet another ironic coincidence... I'm at a two-year college, taking Abnormal Psychology.

>I always wonder if I will encounter someone I know on these boards. Are you in the midwest?

Nope!

But really, until you mentioned the midwest (by that I assume you mean Illinois, Inidana, Ohio, etc)I thought you were my psych. teacher! It was really getting weird because I would read one of your posts on here, and then go to class and she would say virtually the exact same thing! :)

Weird. Although once Karen_Kay posted something eerily similar to what I worked on with a client the day before.

Good luck in your studies. I hope you are doing better. Did you ever talk to your profs, or did things just get better?

Well, some of my depression has lifted. No, I never talked to my professors. I did tell my T about it and she taught be some coping skills that seem to be making things manageable. This coming week, I will have to sit through some material in my pscyh class that is going to make me really uncomfortable...I better get to practicing those coping skills. :)

Glad to hear things are going better and that your T helped. Just one thought...if a student came to me and explained that she didn't feel comfortable about upcoming material, I think I would seriously consider excusing her for the day. I might ask her to do something like write a brief assignment to make up for it, but I know I would not want to think that I was triggering somebody with a lecture or assignment.

Do you think your prof. would be flexible without you having to reveal too much?

I was at an outdoor agricultural fair last fall and had to use the porta potty. Well, trying not to sit on the germy toilet seat, I ended up in that well known female squatty position and ended up peeing ALL OVER MY PANTS. I mean, all over. What can one do in such a situation? Zip my pants up, hold my head high, and enjoy the fair!!

> Do you think your prof. would be flexible without you having to reveal too much?

My therapist didn't think so. She said she doesn't think the teacher will believe me if I am calm and composed while telling her why I can't be in class next week. I also don't think I would be able to remain composed anyway...I'd probably start crying and shaking etc (it would be embarrassing). I know for sure the info will be triggering. But getting triggered might actually turn out to be good because then my T and I can start working on this specific problem I'm having. I'm still scared about it, and I don't want to have a panic attack in the middle of the classroom. So, I've decided to go to class, and if things start getting overwhelming, I will just get up and leave, unless it's too late and I have a panic attack and can't move, but I'm hoping that won't happen. I've had panic attacks for quite a while now, so I think I can pretty much detect when I'm about to have one. Plus I have my benzos, so those should help. Thank you for all your advice and support GG, it's been very helpful. I can tell you're a wonderful therapist!

Elle,

Can you sit next to a friend in the class, so if you need something someone will know what is going on? I'd offer to sit next to you, but I'm not enrolled in the class...
