Anyone get frustrated from anxiety symptoms?

Posted by karenR on April 3, 2001, at 14:53:53

Augh. I have been having *such* a hard time for the last 5 days dealing with my tightness in my chest.
The remeron I was on worked for the first 5 weeks, then I started feeling less good, the doc suggested upping
my dose to 15 mg, so I did (which was double my previous). Anyway, my chest has felt tight almost continuously
for days. I even took a xanax without even making a dent. I get so frustrated and just cry because I want to
feel normal. I am *not* suicidal, but sometimes I feel like I can't live like this forever, I will go crazy.
It's just so much work and I am so sick and tired of feeling badly. Does anyone get frustrated like this?
I am having a hard time just looking at "today" and keep thinking this will be this way forever, which scares me
to death.

Have you tried the exercise I mentioned earlier? Did it work at all? I have another one too. Stand in a doorway or corner. Place your hands on the wall at about shoulder height. Take a step in and hold it for twenty seconds. Repeat about three times and then do it with your hands slightly higher.

I find doing something completely different from my regular routine helps to relax me. I'm also having success with effexor and therapy. Have you tried either??

I think it is normal to get discouraged when things are going bad or bothering you, but it can become a vicious cycle feeding itself. It does get better!

BEST WISHES

> i know exactly what you are talking about. i just went through a horrible episode of my anxiety/obsessiveness and i ending up throwing up i was so anxious. it was awful. i just started Geodon for axiety and obsessions. i hope it is good. nothing has really helped me and i also get VERY frustrated. breathing deeply helps sometimes but sometimes nothing helps. mine usually passes in about a week. i hope you are that lucky. hang in there and if you want to talk just post something for me and i will write back. try to pray too. it will not be forever!

I too have been very frustrated with anxiety lately, and have had the tightness in my chest. A new med is kicking in for me and the anxiety is lessening but now I'm a little fuzzy headed at times, and unmotivated most others. I think this site might help me deal a little better as I don't feel quite as alone as I had.

YES, anxiety disorder sucks, fuzzyheaded, etc

I totally agree w/KAren R's view. I am on meds, prescribed at 30mg but, I am taking 60mg Clomipramine (Anafrail) , what are the implications or problems which can result b/c, I am afraid to tell my doc that I am at 60mg since I need a refill soon yet, I want to get well. So far, one week at 60mg/night, no noticeable side effects other than intense/realistic dreams. what kind of harm am I doing w/60mg instead of 30mg? ever since suffering from anxiety and even when on this Clomipramine, I have fuzzyheadedness and fear of going crazy.

Try keeping a journal. This may help you to identify what is bringing on the anxiety.

I, too, have found comfort in this site. After I posted my note, I had a *very* bad night. I had constant panic attacks over and over and over. Before I even went to bed I was crying in frustration from feeling so badly. The meds just aren't working as fast as I'd like them.
Fortunately, I had an appt with my therapist the next morning and he told me it was ok to take xanax to get me through this.'
I am not comfortable taking it (I took a total of 20 0.25 mgs in 10 months) for fear of it losing it's effectiveness, or worse, getting addicted.
I"m struggling but trying to deal with it. I just can't seem to "accept it". I HATE IT.
Someone long ago suggested getting on the treadmill to help "break the cycle". We just got a treadmill, and at 11pm, I was on it, but it didn't help.
I just don't understand how this stupid anxiety appeared magically in my life 6 months ago and I never felt like this before. *Something* must be causing it, but I just don't know what. :(

I'm on meds. I'm a little fuzzy headed at times, and unmotivated most others. So as a result, I have felt so unmotivated that I have completely given up on going to the gym. Me the stupid fuck (plz excuse my big mouth) can't go to the gym, so I am just messed over. I don't if it is my meds but, I am having sick dreams. Very real dreams, in fact, my cousin said a few months ago, she wanted to get a belly ring. She's 22, but I never have and for that matter never want to and prefer not to see her nude. Anyways, sadly, in my dream last night, she had a bellyring, and nipple rings. Argh, what's going on w/ my mind? Even worse, every single night since taking the meds, I've noticed that any that happens to me in my dream, I feel it.Argh. One of these days, I could see myself um, jumping off a skyscraper b/c, endless suffering.

Dubya,
Please go back to what was prescribed. You may have to titrate up slowly with clomipramine, I'll check the search function for you, I know you are not in the mood to do much of anything. Your dr wants you on the 30 mg, please go back to that, it will almost certainly bring you out of the fuzzy-headed feeling. Then call him/her and discuss the dosage and the reasoning behind it, you have to come out of the place you're in...

Also, post your question on the other part of this board, the regular "Psycho Babble,' not this one, which is the 'Psycho-Social Babble.' The other one is for discussions about medications. Someone will know better than me.

Please take care!
Wendy
