Hello!

Posted by Twin leaf on December 4, 2011, at 15:33:27

I think my eight-month block is up, so I thought I would check in to say hello. I see that a lot has changed, as far as administrative functioning, but that a lot of good things have remained unchanged, like the quality of medical information and the depth and sincerity of the psychology postings. It's nice to see that Babble has survived such a stressful period.

Now, if I just remember my password correctly...

Hi! Good to see you! (nm) » Twin leaf

Thanks for the warm welcome, Dinah!

I loved something you said in the thread above this one about how helpful it was when your therapist truly entered your world, just as it was, without in any way trying to change you. I have found the same thing with mine - I never forget it once it happens- BUT, it really doesn't happen to me all that often. I wish it did happen more often, and I just love when it does!

The funny thing is that when he does it well, I'm more likely to change than I am when confronted with demands to change.

Of course in this case, a shift in viewpoint probably helped more than any behavioral changes. So he maybe entered my world, but showed me a different vista within it?

Once that happened, the behavioral changes flowed naturally.

When he's good, he's very very good.

When he's good.....

When he's "off", it can be hard for us to remember how valuable and amazing he can be when he's "on". It's those "on" moments which we all seek and cherish. Usually, these are hopes and wishes which are not easy to articulate; on this topic, your posts over the years are such a valuable exception - thank you!

Thanks, Solstice! I look forward to that; I have always gotten a lot from the interactions I have had on Babble. At their best, they are really unique and speak to a very special place in the heart.

The more mundane ones are fine too!

This may be different, but that is my idea of good conversation with young people.

Nice to see you Twinleaf.

How are things going in therapy world for you?

I'm in a good place with my therapist - never felt closer to her. Maybe it's because I'm in a bad place in my marriage --- can't have both significant relationships be rocky at the same time :-)

Good to see you return.

That can be so hard (marriage difficulties). It's wonderful that you have such a close attachment to your T now; that sounds like an "earned secure attachment" which you will always have from now on.

Things are good on my therapy front too. I still struggle with feelings of aloneness even when he is right there and keeping me fully in mind - but less often and less painfully. Outside of therapy, I notice quite a bit more confidence and self-liking. I guess I'd say I'm progressing towards a secure attachment but haven't actually gotten there yet. He is great - smart, loving, playful, unchanging.

I agree. It's especially great when one succeeds in doing it with young people, as they so often expect to be told how to feel or think. It's pretty nice with older people too!
