OK so I KNOW I'm weird...but...

Posted by muffled on May 29, 2007, at 9:29:46

Its making me nuts apparently.
But my T cut her hair SO short!
REALLY short, to the point that she looks severe.
She looked softer with it longer. It weren't long, but it weren't practically buzzed either.
Its making me NUTS wondering WHY????
Why would she cut her hair so short????
Is she trying push people away with severe look?
Mebbe its some mental issue of hers?
Mebbe its some passive aggressive thing w/her hubby?
So QUESTION: Would it be a boundary xssing to ask WHY????? she cut it like that?

So, am I ridiculous or WHAT?
But its really bugging me.
I see her tomorrow.

I think I'd have to ask, but that's just me. My T. expects that from me, as I am impulsive, direct and challenging (and scared the whole time being that way!) :-) We had a whole 'thing' about me saying I liked the color of his shirt one day....And it all went just fine - we always learn stuff about each other's perceptions, assumptions that way.

If it's a boundary for her, she'll choose how or how much to answer. Doesn'tr mean you can't ask a simple question. Something as obvious and 'in your face' as a totally new haircut is bound to be noticed by a client, she's sure to know that...

I doubt she'll have any problems about just asking. You could say something like, "Your short haircut really surprised me. I keep wondering about it." That way (from what you've written here) I'll bet she won't be able to resist asking you WHAT you're wondering.

And you are not the least bit weird.

**ROFL!! 10der...I LOVE the way your mind works!!!!!!;-)
That is a VERY good plan, and LOL, it will be FUNNY that way and so not scarey!
My T has a good sense of humour but sometimes she can be a little touchy bout stuff so I will tread carefully :-o ;-}
Thx 10der.
Take care eh.

Been there, done that, Muffled. I can't explain it either, except for me it seems to be all about my safety net and not having anything change with that (including the length of her hair).

I would definitely bring it up with her if you feel you can.

Hi Muffled,

If it were my T I would say something, probably sarcastic, so you might not want to follow that part of my suggestion.

My T's hair always looks exactly the same, I know it's not a wig, but how come I never see gray roots? I know they're there!

OK so I blurted it out...

My T kept her cool.
I said why you cut your hair so short?
She say its easier. Haircutter not doing the best job, same lady but not consistant. Why you ask?
I say it makes her look diff. Kinda scarey(?dunno where THAT came from), so she say scarey UGLY? OMG! I said NO!!!! I said scarey, scarey. I couldn't find the right words. So anyways, she didn't seem to be offended.....
I may have to fax her and explain I meant scarey as in severe. She looked softer b4 she got such a short cut. She looks severe, like keep away, severe, when its short. And I think thats what been bugging me. That she saying keep away everybody with the severe cut.
Its not ugly, its just very short and kinda scarey is all.
Sigh.
I am weird.
;-P

Muffled, my hair is quite short right now...

I went to a new hairdresser, since I wasn't happy with my old one. I asked for, oh, about chin length...

And walked out with hair ABOVE MY EARS!!!

So, it may not have been entirely by choice for your T, either...

Funny you should say that racer, cuz my T DID say she was not so happy with the cut, that she had whoopy bits that bugged her etc......
Thanks for that.

And after I read this thread, Muffled, I decided that I'd had enough Bad Hair Days and went out, changed hairstylists, and had my hair cut really short!! LOL!! Not to be scary but it's already too darn hot here and my head just can't cool down with a bunch of hair weighing down on it.
It occurred to me that I kept asking my hairstylist for what I wanted and she really, really, didn't ever want to give it to me. Shorter bangs, different colour, growing out my grey, you name it. She'd cluck her tongue at me and do whatever the heck she wanted to do. And I'd feel like I'd thrown my money away just to keep her happy.
OK, so I only went to this hair stylist for, er, 5 years. I'm not the most assertive kid on the block.

Sorry for the tangent. Back to you.

{gasp} You have grey hairs??? Honestly -- I spent all that time envying you for your gorgeous hair! Thinking things like, "it's just not fair, here I started going grey at 18..." lol Just goes to show, huh? Something about that lovely lawn, huh?

By the way, you really have always had lovely hair. I'm glad you'll be happier with it with a new stylist, but I just want you to know that it's always looked great to me.

And I guess I should mention to everyone here -- you really looked great this trip. More relaxed, happier, and just gorgeous! It was great to see. And in case anyone wonders, Scratchpad is a beautiful woman, with a great voice.

I'm so dang lucky! Dinner with a beautiful, smart, entertaining woman. TWO beautiful, smart, entertaining women one night.

And, of course, shopping. :-D
