You know it is weird

Posted by happyflower on September 8, 2006, at 16:42:01

that my T knows my adnormal psych teacher. Do all T's have a T? Or is something that beginning T's have? I know therapy is confidential and I do trust my T but I also know that in reality confidential information can leek through friends. Now my T says that he is VERY close to this guy. So I am sitting in class wondering if it is my T's T , I wonder if he knows who I am . Maybe I am just being parnoid about it.

It is weird that almost everyone I talk to at the gym has some sort of connection to him. It just seems like my T and me has our lives intertwined so much in so many unexpected ways. Like we have the same neuro surgeon, not how odd is that?
But I have talked about the weird coincedences between my T and me, and we keep finding more and more. Remember the odd painting on his wall is the same as mine in my living room. It is just weird on how many levels we have in common. Maybe it doesn't mean anything, but it makes me wonder, I can't help it.

Hi, HF.

What does it make you wonder?

About the confidentiality issue, or other things beyond that?

T's tend to know lots of Ts-- so simply being friends, or even close friends, unless there's some obvious age/status difference-- which itself wouldn't prove anything-- doesn't mean much. Certainly shouldn't lead to breaches of confidentiality.

My T, for example, is best friends with my SigO's T. I have utmost confidence that my T would never say a word, even anything to indicate that he knows me, or of me or of my SigO-- nor do I think my SigO's T would ever mention anything to anyone.

It really is unethical to do so. I know that, of course, it does happen. But the likelihood of your T;s mentioning it-- you should be able to trust not. Esp, since he knows you have contact with the abnormal psych teacher or other people.

Is there anything about your T that raises doubts?

Jost

I trust my T , I really do. He seems to be almost overly carefull of stuff like that. But I guess when I found out he knows my professior really well, I just sort of feel self conscience about it. I mean what if it is my T's T , then he might know about me if my T needed to discuss my therapy. Then I could see him going in to see him at the next session saying well you will never believe this but you are now her professior. LOL Okay, I know I am letting my imagination get the best of me. LOL

sorry if you are all sick of hearing about this (nm)
