depression is not fair

Posted by sunnydays on August 19, 2006, at 20:30:07

That's all I have to say about that. Just because I have the genetic makeup to cause depression, I get to spend a lot of time feeling unhappy when other people don't have to. I know there are medications, but what about times like now when they don't work so well? Then I have to go through the ordeal of changing dosages or changing medication. Not that I'm wishing anyone else unhappiness at all. I'm just wishing myself a little relief that just doesn't seem to be coming fast enough. It would probably help if I actually scheduled an appointment about changing medications rather than just thinking about it, but I'm scared. My T knows I have a hard time talking about my feelings, and he'll help me next week I think. I have serious issues with making phone calls (even for something as innocuous as a hairdresser's appointment) so it's not that I'm not trying. It just takes me a long time to work myself up to these things. And then I have to actually find it in me to tell the nurse practitioner what I've been feeling. Uggh. So not fair.

Phone calls. Anything but phone calls. UGH!!

I've been living in my apartment now for 8 months. The management agency never sent me a lease. All I need to do is call the agency and ask them to send me a copy of the lease.

Why couldn't this have happened to someone who had no problem making phone calls? I agree ... so, SO not fair.

I completely agree.. not fair at all. And if we are going to have the "joy" of getting depression, why must lack of motivation, anxiety, etc come along with it (at least for many)? It's like a double hit.. not only will you feel bad, but on top of that, it'll be extra difficult to be proactive and deal with it! Ha!

I really do understand though. There have been many times where I just wonder "why me?" or in this case, why all of us?

Hi sunnydays,

My hands shake everytime I call my T even though I know it's okay to.

I'm grateful that Dr. Clueless has an email address for appointments.

It's not fair. I delete phone messages at hell job that want a call back. I so understand.

I am sending you some courage to make that call. It isn't much, but I hope it helps.

No, the phone call thing is not my thing either.

Dam* Alexander Graham Bell. Things were going fine w/o telephones.

Texting's a lot easier. How about that?

Anything but a phone call! It can take me weeks, months, forever to make an easy call, much less an important one.

It must be genetically coded in depression: you cannot make phone calls.
best,
antigua

Thanks everyone. I'm just not up to responding individually and I'm sorry for whining so much. But I am reading your posts, and I do appreciate them, I just really can't respond at the moment.
