Can we do a winter retreat? Feels like we need one around here. I was imagining today what Camp Comfort would feel like in the winter time. Since I'm in California, I'll need some help thinking of things to do in the snow, but somehow I think it *is* snowing there. How many of our therapists are taking Holiday breaks? Will we need to share rooms this time of year?
I'd love to take a ride in a horse drawn sleigh. And drink snugglers by the fire. And sit in the dark with just the Christmas tree lights on. (can we have those there?)
I want to sing Christmas Carols too. My favorite is "Mary, did you know?" Anyone play the piano?

You know, ever since I saw "March of the Penguins" I've wanted a penguin or two. At Camp Comfort there should be a penguin pen. And perhaps an igloo to play in.
My favorite Christmas drink is spiced cider. And we should have plenty of warm cats and dogs by the fire for those who want them.

My T isn't going to take any time off, but I've been having a rough time lately. I wouldn't mind spending Sunday through Friday there.

I hope so. I just put 600 lights on our tree tonight. I love the way it looks in the dark. It's really the best way to look at a Christmas tree. :)

I used to, but not so much anymore. I love to listen, though.
How about a frozen-over pond outside, so we can go ice skating? I love the sound of blades on the ice.
Hot chocolate and lots of Christmas cookies, too. I can bake some of those. :) Maybe we can eat them while we watch Rudolph and Frosty.
Oh, and red and green construction paper, scissors, and glue for some fabulous garland on the tree.

I love sitting in the dark with just the Christmas lights om with my favorite Christmas CD playing (I'm not a country gal, but I love Amy Grants Christmas CD). As I told my kids this year, I actually like the tree with just lights (no ornaments). Of course, I got veto'd.
Ice skating on a pond sounds divine. It should be snowing lightly, the giant flakes that stick to your nose, no wind, just calm. Giant moon looming overhead.
Making snow angels is a must --- we'll need to bring snow pants for all the warm states to borrow. We'll need lots of wood to keep the fire burning too.

I'd have snowshoes for those who want to walk in the snow. Cozy soft homemade quilts for throwing around our shoulder like grand capes. Slippers that fit Just Right so you can shuffle properly over to the big picture window to look out at the whiteness.
Little marshmallows for the hot chocolate so you get a little white moustache when you first take a sip.Sigh. I'm ready to go.

I can make mulled wine. Annierose, I know just what kind of snowflakes you are talking about, and they're so quiet and beautiful. I have ice skates. Of course we can build snowmen or a snowfort.
I'm learning to build and maintain good fires. My hubby was a boyscout. :)
And absolutely, the more lights the better on the tree, and sitting in the dark, with the lights of the tree and the fire, singing softly...what a lovely scene. I would absolutely love to share such a special holiday with my Babble friends.
Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, anyone?
My T will take just a week off, while the university is closed. But I'm taking a vacation in January, which might mean missing two weeks. I haven't looked at that yet. ("la la la la la") I know I'll miss at least one.

I've arranged to see mine the day before Christmas, and we're working on the day after New Years.
So instead of two weeks, only one, and that a very busy one.

I hope there's a big hill for sledding....I'll bring lots of sleds to share.
Definitely hot chocolate....with lots and lots of whipped cream. And nice soft warm blankets to cuddle up in front of the fire. And can there be a big window with a window seat with lots of pillows so we can watch that beautiful snow?
And, I want a place to throw snow balls and smash ice in case I'm feeling grumpy. I love the sound of snowballs thumping against something!
I don't play piano, but I love to sing and don't have such a bad voice. And, I love Amy Grant's Christmas CD too...
Daisy, I have to ask...what are snugglers??? And can I have one????

Snugglers are hot chocolate with peppermint snopps...are you 21? If so, yup. If not, we'll stick a candy cane in yours.

And all my boots have heels -- like 2 1/2 inch heels, those won't work, will they? Can we shop at camp comfort?
OH -- And what kind of jammies do we wear there? Flannels or thermals. I suspect my "thin" flannels aren't near enough.

Yes, I'm well over 21, so count me in for the schnopps, although depending on my mood, I may just want a peppermint stick and whipped cream. I love fuzzy navels too....haven't had one in what seems like forever, though.

I will come, I will walk in the forest by the lake. And it'll be all quiet and muffled like a secret and safe place. The snow squeeks when I walk. My breath makes puffs. Its so cold my nosehairs freeze when I breath and feel all funny and crunchy. The biting cold makes me feel alive. I can see the fire, and you guys, and know I not alone.

I've never seen snow. I can't even imagine what it's like to play with.
Next week is my last week with my T. Then he's gone for 2 weeks, back for 1 week and then gone for another 2 weeks.
I've known about it for ages, but it's all been locked away. It all just hit me yesterday when I was looking at my calendar. I'm not handling it very well at all.

This thread must have jinx the weather here because we are experiencing the PERFECT snowfall (if you are at camp comfort ... and not driving).
ALL the trees are breathtakingly (new word) beautiful ... snow capped branches, big wet fluffy flakes and warm too (it doesn't snow when it's too too cold).
Currently 8 inches of the fluffy stuff on the ground and it keeps coming. AAAhhhh ... soup is on in Michigan!
Yes Daisy, I'll have the proper snow boots and mittens for you too. Fire has already started.

I've not been to a babbler retreat before but I'd really like to come. I really like the brochure... I'll bring some wine. May I bring my dog too? Just watching him play in the snow is enough to make me love the snow too.
