I'm a little frustrated...
It takes so much for me to go get help and then I always end up getting passed on to someone else.
I think I freaked the counsellor out at the student counselling centre. I keep forgetting that it is totally not normal to think about killing myself so often. I wasn't even in any real distress...any real distress was over and done with some hours before. She physically took me to see a doctor at the urgent care clinic...super embarrassing! I'm guessing she needed to cover her butt just in case I was the real deal or something like that.
Anyways, I'm going to see this p-doc I've never seen before soon. I don't think anything is going to help me. This guy doesn't even know me and we won't see each other often or long enough to make a difference anyways. :-(
I think I may have to "fix" myself. I wish I had simple problems...then there would be lots of help for me.

I will answer my own question here...
They said they wouldn't see me because they provide short term therapy and I need long term therapy.
Pretty simple answer I suppose, but I still feel like I'm being passed on...and on and on...until I'm back to the beginning again. :-(
No one wants to see me. :-(

They'll just try to find a more appropriate placement for you, that's all. I think it's the right thing for them to do. We've seen too many cases of prematurely terminated therapy in school situations around here. Be glad you aren't getting stuck in that trap.
Perhaps the pdoc will be able to refer you to an appropriate long term therapist.

I was just going to reiterate exactly that!Ah... I remember the feeling of being passed on...
All I can say is that IMO they are wise to consider how much they can help you (given their resource constraints of time limited therapy)
And they are kind to help you best they can (by taking you to the doc to get you an appoitment).I would say that they did it because they care.
Because they want you to get better.
And because they saw that you would have a better chance of working properly with someone who can help you
Give him a chance.
Really.
Little help can go a long way.
Either way...
You still have to help yourself as best you can.
But another perspective could help you out.
You could get a chance to properly learn some useful coping strategies.
You will have a back up support for when things turn to custard...
To help you get through those times.
But yeah, it does come down to you doing best you can either way.Hang in there :-)

"I wish I had simple problems...then there would be lots of help for me."
IMO, most problems are not simple. My struggle may appear simple to you, but it's monumental to me. And vice versa, I imagine.
good luck,

(((((Deneb)))))safe hugs
i'm sorry that no one would see you at your school. It was like that for me also when i was upset and tried to go to the counseling center at my school for help.
Mostly there i think that they try not to do any counseling other than help choose courses /majors/ career planning not personal (even though they say so in the school catalog).
It's so hard to not have anyone to help. i hope that you can find a T soon and the session with the psychDr goes well. Maybe the Dr will be able to help you find a good T.
Take care,
kerria

>Student Counseling centers can be so frustrating. That is where I get my primary care and even though I have a wonderful therapist there are a lot of hoops to jump through. I certainly feel for you and hope that you get the help you need. Be proactive if you need to. I no it is hard, but sometimes a more assertive approach acan really get the wheels turning in those big instituitions.
