Not on twice a week therapy. I know I'm lucky to have twice a week therapy. But last week was so incredibly intense, and there's just no way to keep that intensity going without going more often.
I feel sort of sad about that.
Usually when I go every day it's because I'm in crisis and we don't really accomplish anything in the way of enhancements. Just maintenance. Last week was the very first time I ever went five times in one week to work, not to survive. It was an incredible experience.
If only I could win that lottery. :)

yes, if only we had the money to TRULY do the intense work... I wish the insurance companies could see that a great deal of us could actually (gasp) GET BETTER if we had the resources to get intense therapy...
Kind of like how they finally figured out that paying for birth control was cheaper than paying for all of the ob/gyn visits and delivery room expenses once a year...
"Fix" us RIGHT (therapy-wise), once, and we don't need to keep coming back using their resources more!!!
sigh...

Perhaps it would be hard to keep up the intensity for long anyway. Theoretically I could afford it for a couple more weeks. But I guess I want to save those extra sessions for when I next melt down.
It might be interesting to schedule extra sessions when an issue is definitely coming up, and see if the intense working through is something that is definitely associated with very frequent sessions.

I still say that "big issues" are only big issues because of the way we perceive them...
Get to the heart of our "issues", the "why" of HOW we process our "issues' AND THEY WILL NO LONGER SEEM SO BIG TO US...
That's MY theory, anyway...

hmmmm.. how can you afford every day therapy? Won't it be too much??
One suggestion I have is, apart from this babble board, start developing more real life friends. That is what helps people in India,,nobody goes to therapy as such, but people usually have 100s of people who care about them and are willing to talk to them, and help out, and everyone has a huge social network. That is why inspite of so many issues, people maintain a fairly good mental health. My family was little peculiar, my dad only used to talk to everyone, and me or my mom were always kept aloof, but that is why my dad still manages to be happy, and me and my mom suffering.
Talking to people helps - A LOT. That is why therapy works. And if therapy is not affordable, never underestimate the power of healing from real life friends and family and society. IT is one thing that lacks hugely in the US.

I found a big change between 2/week and 3/week. Particularly since I have 2 of those sessions on consecutive days. That might be a way to compromise between 2/week and 5/week??

I like that idea. And since I've been working so hard lately and am paid on an hourly basis, it might be feasible, especially since I'll probably have to keep it up for a few more months. If he can manage mornings, it might be doable.

You guys are all going to end up in analysis, like me!

I'd love it!!!
Except of course that my therapist has no training in analysis.
And except that we tend to get on each others' nerves if we see each other too often. :)

Shoot, at the rate I am going, 20ish months at once a week, it would take me years to get up to five times a week! :-D
But actually, the idea of analysis does appeal to me, but I keep throwing up logistical barriers (time, price, etc.) Basically, I'm chicken.

I think those of you who commented on how incredibly intense and meaningful it is to go every day are exactly right. It's a very difficult commitment to make- financially it's horrible, but even more, it's really hard to keep at it, day after day.
But for people with problems that aren't minor, like me, I think it's the very best thing one can ever do. I have been going for a bit more than two years, and have a feeling I will be ending after about five years. I do kind of joke around about going forever, but, in analysis, one doesn't go forever. You really do get things done.
This is the end of the thread.
