what to do

Posted by lgmg on March 18, 2005, at 1:39:56

i have been through a lot of medications, always "diagnosed with pts", right now i take lorazepam and ambien, which work ok but i get so worried that i will have problems getting off. i do not take ativan everyday, but some days i take 6 mil a day tops, i don't feel a driving need to take these pills, they make me sleepy if i don't need them. what constitutes a problem? i haven't really liked any of the mood stabilizers i've been on. I want to know if you think i have a problem and what I should do about it. and i wonder if anyone has a suggestion regarding antidepressants. Thank you. lg

Let me be the first to welcome you to Babble!! The medications board would probably be the place where you will find a more helpful answer, though. Good luck!

Although maybe on the medications board they may be more interested in you dealing with your reluctance to take medications rather than suggesting alternative ways of dealing with the problem...

It may be useful to continue this thread here as well...

Ok. Is PTS post traumatic stress???
Is lorazepam (or however you spell it) a benzodiazapine?

Benzo's are addictive...

What leads you to take them? I mean, do you take them when you are feeling anxious or having flash backs or what???

Sorry, I forgot to say welcome.
Welcome :-)

Basically the idea is that people discuss medications on the main babble board. There you are likely to hear about peoples experiences (both positive and negative) with medications. If you want that kind of info then that is the place to post.

The alternatives board is about what other kinds of things may help with the symptoms people are struggling with. St Johns wort for depression and stuff like that.

The psychology board typically deals with psychotherapy or techniques typically taught in therapy (does that seem right peoples??)

If you decide you may have an addiction to a drug / medication then the substance board would be appropriate.

And if you are worried about withdrawal symptoms then there is a board for that as well.

If you aren't sure which of the above you want (or if you just want lots of suggestions) then the best place to post it may well be the social board (so that you get a variety of perspectives).

If you think that is confusing then I have sympathy.

:-)
It gets easier...

This is the end of the thread.
