I never had thought that beforeThen I said to him : Doctor I had this wrong ideas that I canīt control , how CBT could help me ?? I have tried to be positive on life but it does not seem to help me
He answered me: Just focus , and think... I donīt care what other people think about me . This is CBT.
ok doctor !! what else ???? I was waiting for more , any exercise or something , but not . That was all !!
20 minutes was my sessionīs duration , and then
I see you in a month he told me.... bye byewhat is this???????? oh my god
please tell me this is not CBT , because I had hope that It could help me. But like this , I left the doctor so sad and frustrated . I feel worst today

No, this is definitely not CBT. CBT is a fairly structured therapy with a well-defined framework. Each session should be about an hour long (or at least the standard 50-minute pdoc hour) and take place on a weekly basis. Telling someone to think objectively doesn't even begin to cover what CBT is all about.

CBT is a type of psychotherpy reckoned to be quite useful in treating depression.Ideally it involves attending somebody trained in that field and having perhaps 15 sessions which will try to get you to see life in a more positive fashion. You can get a taste of what it is all about in an Australian university site at www.moodgym.anu.edu.au.Perhaps anybody who tries it might let us know on this board if they find it useful.

I got the same message from a T who practised CBT...
Needless to say I've quit therapy. Every T I've been to has said things like that!
