I am listening to a station of 70's music right now. Whenever I do that, the familiar tunes send me right back to the age I was a that time. It is incredible.....but also depressing because it only reminds me that I didn't make anything of myself since all that long time ago.
However, it is so calming to hear the old songs I grew up with. Funny how you can remember some of the verses, even after not having heard those songs since.....well, the 70's!! Lol!
Listening too long makes me sad, though. What happened to the girl I was in the 70's? Look at what kind of life I've given her. To do it all over again, huh? I liked that girl from the 70's. She had her whole life in front of her. I've failed her massively.
But I like going back. I like to feel like that girl again....
Although I crash when I come back to the 21st century.
Hugs to all,
Sandy

Cheer up Sandy, I can't listen to the old music either without wanting to cry sometimes. I can relate to lost years. What makes you happy now?

What a nice surprise to see you posting, Sandy. Music is such an important component in my life. Some music I listened to over and over at certain periods I cannot bear to hear as it brings the memories flooding back. Some music makes me so joyful, I cry to hear it.
I particularly remember a K-Tel record I had from 1972, when my family moved from Montreal to Toronto. I don't have it anymore, but pretty much remember all the songs on it.

Remember this song?:
"They're coming to take me away, ha ha, hee hee
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all day long
And I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their long green coats
And they're coming to take me away, ha ha!"

Isn't it funny how some songs, idiotic as they are, stick with you??? I mean, I was just a KID when that song came out. But it's with me till the day I die! Lol! The same as this one:
"There were green alligators
And longed-neck geese
Some humpty-backed camels
and some chimpanzees
Some rats and cats and elephants
And sure as you know
The loveliest of all was the unicorn."It was a song about the animals getting on Noah's ark. But the unicorns were having so much fun, playing in the rain, and they never made into the ark. Sad!! [smile]

Such a hokey show but I watched it every single week and that is one of those songs that makes me cry. I think the lead singer with the red hair and the tam'o'shanter hat ended up running a pub in Toronto.
This is the end of the thread.
