Sometimes I need to laugh, even if it is a grim one :)

I have almost finished the book on the 30 years war.
It has been helpful to me in finding the strength to tolerate our leaders.
And I don't live in the USA.
But we will catch up.
We can punch above our weight.

We're going to see Jim Hightower interviewed in a few days.
He was quoted as saying 'If God had meant us to have democracy He would have given us candidates'.
Maybe he will be good?

He calls himself a populist. Fox thinks populism is an abomination. Already sounds appealing :)

>A fire broke out backstage in a theatre. The clown came out to warn the public; they thought it was a joke and applauded. He repeated it; the acclaim was even greater. I think that's just how the world will come to an end: to the general applause of wits who believe it's a joke.

Does that mean we'll graced by laughter?

Jim Hightower is from Texas.
Texans speak of current affairs with a rare depth of feeling.

Not for long.
We're working on it.

I hadn't thought it till you mentioned it, but it seems to be. And how has that come to pass? Interesting. Maybe if I understood my own country's history better.
Yesterday 49 bodies were found on a highway connecting Monterrey Mexico to Southern Texas. Their heads, hands, and feet were missing. Drug cartels.

Is it 60,000 in the last 5 years in Ciudad Juares?
You remember Newt saying that even though he was having an affair and leaving his dying wife it was still the right thing to do to pursue Bill and Monica?
I suppose that was his idea of noblesse oblige?
Our hypocrisies are so interesting.
