Unfortunately my speakers are not hooked up. This would be the Stalingrad film by the makers of Das Boot perhaps?
If it is I remember the section where the young man sees the mistreatment of Jews and tries to do something about it and the commanding officer just laughs and says 'Tell it to the Fuhrer'.
We didn't always have a Saving-Private-Ryan view of WWII. There is a Stalingrad station in Paris. The whole world, in 45, felt indebted to the mainly Russian people for their enormous sacrifice.

I see it's from The World at War.
That was good too.
We need to be reminded of it. The memory is so fragile, so easily bent to other ends.
Can you remember when people in the previous US Administration were talking about Munich and Saddam? Goodness. So was our foreign minister.
I need to get my speakers hooked up.

Now I need some damn flashplayer thing.
Watching a little bit of Stalingrad every morning is salutary for us at this time and place.
I was looking forward to it.
