Hi, fellow babblers!
I've been in perfect health all of my life. On Mother's Day, I ended up in emergency (pain in stomach, throwing up, etc, etc.....and blood; won't go into the gory details).
They did a colonoscopy a few days later....it has been 3 weeks, and i still feel nauseous, exhausted, no appetite and pain in the stomach; going to doctor tomorrow.
Oh, I have ischemic colitis (meaning blood doesn't get to where it is supposed to go); I figure anytime blood doesn't get to a body part---that is cause for alarm! LOL
Still have my sense of humor though!
Love to all; Sassy
Wish i could get rid of the nausea; sucking on ginger and drinking ginger ale doesn't help; any ideas?

Sassy since we're the same age within a year I feel okay asking you this I do have IBS and some diverticuli shown on colonoscopy. If it's ischemic is it a large area? If not could they remove that section and hence blood flow again. Is the colon twisted? Love Phillipa

OK!! finally i can pass this not so wise...wisdom along!
when i was pregnant i was SOOOOO nauseous...i think i heard EVERY rememdy there was so hang on:Ginger ale (which you're doing)
Ginger tea -stronger
Ginger cookies
peppermint tea
chipped ice
plain saltines
there are these lollipops for prego girls...worth a try! if your nausea remains
rubbing belly with eucalyptis (not kidding)
incense -can't remember what scent...thinking jasmine
eat high protein all day, like almonds, peanut butter etc.
popsicles
avoid foods with a lot of fat or spices
avoid alcohol and caffeine
toasted bread
and yes...celery??ok those are some of the responses i remember getting.
i think some people even said lime or lemon juice but i can't say i'd try that. ALTHOUGH...the one thing i could tolerate was a limeade from sonic! go figure! so who knows.
Rx
Zofran
and good luck!

Hi, sweetie: They took some polyps....pre-cancerous.......there was nothing else.....the problem is that blood (they don't know the reason) doesn't get to the colon and causes inflammation and (ick) dead tissue which has to heal.
I've read about it, and it usually happens to someone 60 and over (I told my sister that that was thee only thing that REALLY bothered me, LOL-----an AGE thing....when I still feel 18!)
So, that is it in a nutshell!
Hugs, Alice

I had polyps; which they removed (non-cancerous)
If it's ischemic is it a large area? Not sure what that means, but I think "ischemic" means the oxygen in the blood (have to go look that up)
If not could they remove that section and hence blood flow again. It is the blood LEADING to the colon.
Is the colon twisted? Nope (just ME)

Hi Sassy,
I'm with you on the body betrayal issue. I've seen more doctors in the last month than I've seen in the last three years, not including pdocs.
I'm with B2Chica on the peppermint tea, even suck on pepperment candy. Candied ginger, too, if you like the taste of it.
I still have my sense of humor, too, glad you can keep yours despite your bad mother's day. Hope you at least got some flowers.

Sassy oh dear and waiting is so hard. I have a horrible time with that myself. Get so anxious. Imagine all sorts of horrible things. But could be lack of stomach acid for digesting foods. Love Phillipa
