Intake 1500 cal., burning 3500 cal., healthy?

Posted by Boogie on June 24, 2006, at 18:22:53

Is it healthy to consume about 1500 calories a day, while taking a multivitamin, and burning 3500 calories a day? I've been counting calories, and its worked. I lost about 5 pounds in a week. I was at 205 pounds and am now at 197. I do both weight lifting and cardio, and am currently on a Subway diet. Also another question, what is the maximum amount of cardio a person can do in a day, in minutes?

I'm not a doctor, or a dietitian, but eating 1500 calories a day is a lot better than none. I'm on a 1400 calorie diet, recommended by my dietitian. The only thing i'd say to you is make sure you're eating a well balanced and healthy diet. If the subway diet is working, that's great, but you may want to make sure you get enough variety in your diet. For example, eating different vegetables every day is better for you than eating the same veggies every day. Multivitamins are great, but vitamins from food are best. It doesn't matter if you're eating 1500 calories - if those calories don't come from foods your body needs, then its not getting the fuel it needs. Make the most out of your 1500 calories, and you'll do great. :)

Be careful not to exercise yourself to death either...i'd ask a doc about that one..
