Would anyone care to share any info/experiences regarding endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery.Apparently this 'endoscopic' method compared to the traditional 'open' procedure is newer and has less recovery time and scarring--but also carries an increased risk of nerve, tendon, etc...damage. Exactly how much increased risk (and benefit) seems to be rather controversial.
I'd greatly appreciate any feedback anyone could share regarding this.
Thanks.

The hand surgeon I used to work with didn't ever do it. He felt it was too risky. I watched a film of the procedure once, and what struck me was that in cutting through the top of the carpal tunnel (shoot, I forget what part that is), there appeared to be a smear of fatty tissue from a nearby fat pad that blurred the screen. That's exactly why the doc I worked with didn't like it. He said that happens a lot.
Of course, this was more than 10 years ago.
Anatomy hasn't changed, but the technique or tools hopefully have.
Good luck.

Thanks gg,
I'm leaning toward the open procedure for the reasons you've stated.
Could you tell me how visible the hand scar is after it's completely healed?
And oh yeah...may I also ask how the Provigil is working out (if you're still taking it)? Any luck with concentration/focus/motivation...or problems?
Hope you're also doing well with your light therapy. I've just reduced my light time from 25 min to 15 minutes (well, tonight is the first time) to see if that helps getting to sleep earlier. Anyhow, thanks for the insight on the surgery and hope all's cool. Peace.
This is the end of the thread.
