I just found out that 95-100% of Asians are lactose intolerant.
Maybe that explains why I never like milk and never drink it. I drank something with lactose in it today and got sick with cramps and vomited once. Lactose intolerance doesn't usually lead to vomiting right? Did I get food poisoning again?
Last time this happened it was much more severe and I had a big milk shake.
I think I'm going to assume I'm lactose intolerant since the odds are so high. I'm going to try some Lactaid next time I ingest something with milk in it.

You can buy milk w/ lactase in it in some places. Lactase is an enzyme that breaks down lactose, and which lactose-intolerant people are missing.

P.S. I don't like milk either, but it doesn't make me sick.
P.P.S. You should make sure you have a source of calcium in your diet.

I'm kind of worried now...
I don't drink milk and I don't take calcium supplements.
I eat broccoli on occasion.
Most days I don't get any calcium. This has gone on for a long time. I'm afraid I've done irreversible damage...
Is it too late to take calcium supplements?

No, it's not too late to take calcium supplements. Do you eat tofu?

Yes, tofu has calcium, although not as much as milk. It wouldn't hurt to buy some vitamins and minerals if your diet is erratic. Usually you should take them with some food.

switch to soya milk.
its better for you anyway.
its high in calcium (which is more readily absorbed than that in cows milk, apparantly)
low in fat
and you really really do get used to the taste.ps i think lactose intolerance tends to lead to the runs rather than throwing up though i could be wrong... cats tend to be lactose intolerant which is why you aren't really supposed to give them milk. you can buy cat milk, with reduced lactose, or sometimes cat milk just is soya milk.
