I'm a running fool!!

Posted by sleepygirl on July 19, 2005, at 22:59:45

Yes! I have begun to run! I have been trying to get back into this lovely habit I used to have. I think it is sooooo good for my anxiety. I wish my knee didn't hurt afterward. Wish me luck!

sleepygirl, I hate you. Oh lord if I could just run the way I used to, flying for fun.
Now for the crap. Make sure when You run, you run on grass with shoes...okay, get 'em right no matter the cost. And If you have trouble with your knee see a sports med doc. And old runners are nuts, but start rubbing that knee with castor oil, and eat sardines, and waste money on glucosomine. But, okay, I'm nuts but now when I run, I run in water..in my case long island sound, but a pool can do as well.
Hell, I'm gonna go have another vodka. Lord I miss running. But now I can't, although I go swimming when it's running I want. But, now I hate people who run...well, envy is more the rule
cause once I could fly. Oh, well, there is bicycling. And Rollerblading...cept I take a size 16. But rollerblading's a gas as long as you wear all the tools, cause when you hit the
road, the road really hits you. And I apologize, you go girl.....envious as hell, cockeyed.

thanks cockeyed. I think I'll mix it up with a bit of that cycling and swimming you speak of. You can't beat the water, no high impact there.
Don't get dehydrated from all that vodka!

Hey, sleepy- I run a little. OK, I haven't been running as a habit in ~2 months, because it has been soooo hot (but that is really just an excuse). I made a 10 min. mile usually when I was running several times a week. I know that is slow but it was a great improvement for me. I DID run yesterday afternoon in THE HEAT. I had my husband drop me off at one place and pick me up 3.5 miles away. I had to walk ~half the way but I was out getting some exercise. It is good for my frame of mind, not to mention the rest of me...

But I can't seem to lose weight. OK, the confession is I like to eat. But I haven't really gained any weight since I stopped, and haven't changed my diet. I htink my body just WANTS to weigh 165. Agh!

Good luck and keep it up!

Cockeyed CRACKS ME UP!!

the running actually helps me eat less. It's like I say to myself "You can't eat that horrible thing after that running you did!!" Mind you I don't always pay attention to this little voice, but considering how little regard I've had for my eating habits it's an improvement. I'm skipping it until the morn today. I've run almost everyday now for a week or so. Next stop: THE GYM!! (Oh the horror!) but such lovely air conditioning :)

Gee you don't kid around. If my fiance dropped me off 3 and a half miles away I'd call him back on my cell phone and tell him to pick up a pizza on the way. Good luck and stay determined (I'm hoping to stay in the habit too!)
