OK, my husband just came home from work last night to announce that his rosacea is actually from aspartame -- because he read something on the internet about aspartame causing rashes.
Anyone have any information about such a link? Or is he -- this would not be atypical -- just trying to avoid seeing a dermatologist?
Thanks!

I have had Rosacea for years and I never or almost never use Aspartame. I'm sure it has been in some products I have ingested without knowing, but I avoid all artificial sweetners.

> Thanks!I can do a google on aspartame and rosacea, and come up with numerous sites with nearly the same statements, word for word.....that aspartame increases symptoms in rosacea in 30% of subjects.
It doesn't *cause* rosacea. It might aggravate existing rosacea. But so does caffeine.
There are four kinds of rosacea, and some symptoms of the disorder are internal. Your husband should see a doctor.
It could be caused by Helicobacter pylori, the same bacterium that causes ulcers, for example.
A dermatologist can sort that out.
