Vitamin B supplementation, Lar? chemist?

Posted by AMD on April 19, 2005, at 15:08:57

Guys,

I've been taking a vitamin B supplement once or twice per day for about two years -- 125 mg supplement, from Vitamin Shoppe. I just read, however, that such a dose could be neurotoxic, particular the niacin. Is this something to worry about at that dosage (considering I also take a regular once-a-day and have a diet rich in grains and carbohydrates)? Any chance I have introduced neurotoxicity?

Thanks,

amd

I've never heard of that before but I would also be interested in knowing since I have a good friend with Bell's Palsy who takes MEGA, MEGA doses daily hoping it will her recover faster.

I am sure Mr. larry will know.

B-complex is a water soluble vitamin. That means the kidneys will excrete what they don't need. In cases where people take high doses of B complex they have very yellow expensive urine. Fondly, Phillipa
