Question about whole grains and raw fruit/ veggies

Posted by Angela2 on February 28, 2005, at 21:57:19

I am going on a diet. I would like to eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and less starches, and sugar and fatty foods. Does anybody know about this kind of thing? Where can I find info on how to plan out my diet, what kinds of food to eat, etc.

I'm totally into this stuff. I suggest going to your local health food store, if you have any health food stores that have groceries and not just supplements for sale. It depends on where you live - the bigger the town, the more likely you'll have quality health food stores.
It's hard to give advice on eating in a forum like this. But I can tell you that I went to an actual nutritionist a few years ago, and I've never eaten the same since. That was the best hour and $80 I've ever spent! Do some research to find a nutritionist in your area!

It depends on the goal of your diet and if you're a vegetarian or not. The internet is a great resource but please don't fall for a fad diet. The most productive diets include some form of a carb, protein, fruit/veggie and dairy. If you can tell me a little more about your reasons for doing this, I may be able to help more.

I am trying to lose weight through a healthy, calorie minimizing diet.

I just made an appt. with my school's nutritionist. And it's free of charge! Woo woo! Thanks for your advice!

I've been getting serious about a good diet myself. I've begun with simply eating original whole-grain oatmeal and egg whites in the morning. The rest of my day I just eat moderately healthy like I've always done.
But just by doing this alone, me and my blood sugar feel much more stable for the first half of the day
