No time to worry about worrying, Effexor, DBT, relationships, loneliness, borderline personality disorder; when get this excruciating breakthrough pain.
It's ALL consuming. Pain arms, shoulders, whole mentally ill head!
I am on a regimen of Percocet x3 for extruded discs 2-3, 3-4, 4-5.
Long story of people throwing and beating on my bod', phooey, just want relief.
No doc I've seen will give me anything for breakthough.
Well, except one time was given Vicodin by my PCP, but didn't realize I was supposed to continue my regular regimen of Percocet, and went through Percocet withdrawal, as the breakthough pain treated by Vicodin didn't work well and lasted too long. Vicodin messed w/ my mental disabilities!!
You are supposed to take something else; while CONTINUING your regular pain regimen.
Guess I just don't matter to these docs I've see; I'm not old enough? I've not been in a car accident or fallen from a height? No doc takes me seriously!!!!
Must admit that PCP did give me trigger point injections w/ some cortisone 4-1/2 wks back; continued my regimen, and had no breakthrough pain for, well, until now. He, did of course mention how we couldn't do TP injections often!!!
It began Fri eve. Light, sound (beautiful this season ... un ho ho) bother me.
Appreciate talk to me; share your experience.
It keeps me out of hospitals that's for sure, cuz' I'm certainly not rich .. to afford the few mental illness/chronic pain centers in the USA.
Regular treatment center will not give you narcotics, even if prescribed!!!
Anyone out there feelin' miserable like me, or have you found something to help you feel un-miserable? unhoho cf

Corafree,
Have your doctors ever suggested using over-the-door traction for your disk problems? I've also had the cervical disk problems, but years ago, I was given over-the-door-traction and it really helped. Now they don't bother me anymore unless the barometric pressure changes drastically.

I had one of those, but just got tangled up in it, and then it fell off on me. I think I needed someone to help me set it up right; I really got mad at it .. it was such a flimsy thing. Tks for suggestion tho'. Believe it or not, a lower dose narcotic, Darvocet, taken w/ half my regular dose Percocet, breakthrough stopped Mon morn', coincidence; don't know. best wishes cf

Hi cf,
If you're on long-term treatment with Percocet the most suitable treatment for your breakthrough pain would be oxycodone immediate release capsules (in UK we call them OxyNorm- not sure what they are called where you live). Since Percocet contains oxycodone and acetaminophen, additional oxycodone is a useful option if the pain gets very bad. Getting a prescription for additional oxycodone may be difficult- because of the high abuse potential of oxycodone doctors are often reluctant to prescribe it to the people who really need it.

Tks Ed re: oxycodone. Will keep in my files if I ever feel my doctor may be receptive. Wish you a good, safe New Year's Eve and Day. cf
