Hi cf,
If you're on long-term treatment with Percocet the most suitable treatment for your breakthrough pain would be oxycodone immediate release capsules (in UK we call them OxyNorm- not sure what they are called where you live). Since Percocet contains oxycodone and acetaminophen, additional oxycodone is a useful option if the pain gets very bad. Getting a prescription for additional oxycodone may be difficult- because of the high abuse potential of oxycodone doctors are often reluctant to prescribe it to the people who really need it.
