Posted by Stryker88 on March 4, 2004, at 15:40:38

I drink way too much Soda and Coffee I cannot control the caffeine cravings. Most of the time it is because I need energy but can't my body produce enough energy for me, so I dont have to reach for the artificial substance to get a quick fix.

I love my soda, but I drink caffeine free (I like it for the taste-caffeine makes me ill)

If you can identify more reasons behind your intake, this may help to decrease your consumption of caffeinated drinks.

For example, are you tired? Do you drink to stay awake? Like the flavor or carbonation of the drink? Do you just like having a warm drink? Do you perhaps just like drinking beverages in general?

Once you start to narrow down your reasons, then you can begin to address them. For example, cutting down your intake slowly. I don't think its dangerous to have 1-3 cups of coffee a day (unless you're drinking those 2 liter Starbucks "cups" haha) but you have to determine what is a comfortable level for you.

Keep us posted and let me know what you think! Good luck...

Have you discussed this with your primary doc and your pdoc? It would be good to find out why the low energy that you are trying to combat with caffeine.

I was always told that caffeine decreases the effectiveness of psychotropi drugs. My problem is that I like the taste I like the little energy I get from coffee. Also it's a habit. And it's the only vice I have left because I quit smoking 6 mos. ago (yeah! Me.)
But another thing is that I don't like the scary things they use to De-caffeinate things. Any body know how that works? How do you de-caf a coffee bean? -Ty
