I finally decided that I am not going to be so hard on myself for drinking soda. I have quit drinking, smoking, chewing, and gambling(except for lately I gambled), and I drink a Coke, or Pepsi daily about one to two cans. I like Soda, because during mid day it kinda wakes me up and is refreshing. I guess the fact that I take Effex. and the daytime drowsiness might be why I go for the pop everday, even still I am not going to worry about it anymore and just give my self a break. What does anyone reading this message think.

I don't know. I had a pretty bad soda habit. I got a LOT of cavities, and I do blame all the soda for that. My other concern was that I was getting so many calories from soda, I didn't have enough appetite left for real food. A few people kept telling me sugar was like a drug, I was addicted, and I was having wild blood-sugar swings all the time, but honestly I didn't feel it. I never felt 'high' from sugar, and I never felt a crash afterward. I just got a pleasant little boost, and felt kind of dull and draggy if I didn't have it. Part of that was from caffeine anyway, since I was drinking mostly Coke. It's surely not as bad for your overall health as drinking and smoking.
That said, I've recently quit drinking it. I think one thing that helped was just making myself eat regular meals including breakfast. Part of my down and draggy feeling was just not getting regular fuel, so I'd grab a soda to perk up. It's too soon to tell whether I really feel better without the soda or not. I feel better mentally just from knowing I did something good for my health.

For several years, from about 1998 or 1999 through 2002, I was drinking Coca-cola as if there were no tomorrow. Sometimes I even drank it in the morning instead of coffee. Well, was I in for a shock! One day I went to my dentist, and I saw the damage that the soda had done. Soda has both sugar and phosphoric acid. The phosphoric acid is very destructive to tooth enamel. In the fall of 2002, I abruptly stopped drinking soda. Over the course of the next year, I lost a lot of weight. I couldn't figure out why I'd lost so much weight. I was actually very worried that I might be ill. I had several thorough physical exams and ruled out medical causes of the weight loss. At this point, I figure I might have lost all that weight by eliminating the calorie-laden soda. I must have been drinking at least 4 cans a day, so that's a lot of calories! Just recently, I've felt that I needed some caffeine in the afternoon, so I've had a few cans of soda per week for the past few weeks. I try to brush my teeth as soon after drinking it as possible. If I can't brush my teeth, I try to rinse my mouth with plain water. Several years ago, a dentist recommended rinsing my mouth with water and baking soda because the basic baking soda should neutralize some of the acid that is so damaging to tooth enamel.

well i have started to drink more pop and caffeine beverages since I started taking Effexore, and I think it is because I dont feel so negative about doing it and I always flush it with water aftewards. ENERGY DRINKS are also my favorite, like Red Bull, Rockstar, Monstor etc.
