Is this war an issue of faith? I suggest it is, but I have my own way of looking at it. When things start coming home it symbolizes we are on track. The news item that preceeded the beginning of the war on Iraq, was Elizabeth Smart's return home. In the midst of this rejoicing, we felt compelled to stand for what is right. We are fighting to preserve our freedom, and protect our families, but further than that, my purpose of this war is to put an end to torture. For the longest time I have been praying for those innocent people who are being tortured by the ugly hands of oppressive leaders. Torture has been an accepted policy in the middle east for as long as time, and it needs to come to an end. I can't bear to think of death by shredding or hanging a sports superstar on the wall and torturing him for three days for a wrong play in a game. NOt to mention the torture that goes on in the homes right here in America against innocent children. This war is against torture, and it's about liberating people from evil tyrants.
We are not perfect. In Canada we are very divided. The Western Canadians in my circle are so upset with our Eastern politicians, especially our Prime Minister for not supporting this war, that we are ready to go to war ourselves and join up with the USA.
The scriptures are very clear about the promises to the whole house of Israel, and I have been personally reminded and comforted by them. This war and these reasons are supported by God, and he commands the army when they listen. He is with the innocent people. He is against torture, and is for humanitarian aid.

rayww,
You wrote,[...promises to the whole house of Isreal...]. Could you clarify :
A. Who are the ones that you are referring to that make up [...the whole house of Israel...]?
B. What are the promises that you refer to?
If you could clarify the above, then I could have a better underatnding of your post and have the opportunity to respond accordingly.

rayww,
You wrote,[...Moses committed the keys of the gathering of Isreal to Joseph Smith and...]. D&C 133: 26-32
Could you explaine some more about the above? If you could, then I could have a better understanding of how Moses , either knew of Joseph Smith, or if Joseph Smith knew Moses or some other explanation, and then I could respond accordingly.

I'm in BC, & in the circle of people I know, both friends (who think similarly minded) & co-workers (who are very diverse & don't really think like me), almost all against the war & don't support America - only a few older ones & I mean a "few". If you refer to the Prairies as western Canada, yes, there are many more there who support the war. But BC doesn't think like the Prairies, even if Campbell (BC premier) likes the war. In the heavily populated areas of BC, the people are much more diverse, tolerant of other cultures, & come from an array of different backgrounds & countries. When I lived on the Prairies, I was considered an outsider.
