Is this war an issue of faith? I suggest it is, but I have my own way of looking at it. When things start coming home it symbolizes we are on track. The news item that preceeded the beginning of the war on Iraq, was Elizabeth Smart's return home. In the midst of this rejoicing, we felt compelled to stand for what is right. We are fighting to preserve our freedom, and protect our families, but further than that, my purpose of this war is to put an end to torture. For the longest time I have been praying for those innocent people who are being tortured by the ugly hands of oppressive leaders. Torture has been an accepted policy in the middle east for as long as time, and it needs to come to an end. I can't bear to think of death by shredding or hanging a sports superstar on the wall and torturing him for three days for a wrong play in a game. NOt to mention the torture that goes on in the homes right here in America against innocent children. This war is against torture, and it's about liberating people from evil tyrants.
We are not perfect. In Canada we are very divided. The Western Canadians in my circle are so upset with our Eastern politicians, especially our Prime Minister for not supporting this war, that we are ready to go to war ourselves and join up with the USA.
The scriptures are very clear about the promises to the whole house of Israel, and I have been personally reminded and comforted by them. This war and these reasons are supported by God, and he commands the army when they listen. He is with the innocent people. He is against torture, and is for humanitarian aid.
