I just can't get into books at the moment, and keep resorting to the high literary levels of gossip magazines *laughing*
So, get me back on track with some potato chips! Please!

For comic fantasy, "Pigs Don't Fly," by Mary Brown. There are other books in the series, too. Lemme think what else I've gobbled down lately...
Not much, but you know what worked a treat when I had mononucleosis? Michael Crichton! I read "The Andromeda Strain," "The Terminal Man," "A Case of Need," "Eaters of the Dead," and a bunch more. I seem to recall liking "Prey," too. I think I read them all, at least all that were out then. They went rapidly, because he's a good story teller, and those earlier books were just a romp.
(Please, no one hurt me for this) Alexander McCall Smith, too -- "Blue Shoes and Happiness" just came to live with me this week :-) Little gems, I think ClearSkies called them, and I agree. (I was walking through a shopping mall with my mother one day and she said, "You've ruined my life." Needless to say, I was quite bewildered -- turns out all she meant was that she wasn't getting anything done because she was reading ALL the "Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency" books! And Mother does NOT read novels...)
And the last one I read? "Foul Matter?" I highly recommend it. I was laughing at things and trying to tell my husband what was so funny. "The Lust Lizard Of Melancholy Cove" really was fun, which reminds me -- if you can find it, "Naked Came The Manatee" is a hoot. It may first seem pretty regional, but remember -- I loved it, and truly Florida is like another world to those of us in California... If I could enjoy it, so can you.
Hope that helps. And let me know what else you've got stashed away, too.

Oh, I'd forgotten about Lust Lizards.. I'll order that now :)
Mother Day in the UK is different to the UK and is at the end of March, and I bought my Mum the first three of the "Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency" books. They are just so *nice*. I'm quite put out that the new one has come out in hardback (all the others were paperback first) so I'm having to wait to read it.
I read "The 2 1/2 Pillars of Wisdom" by Mcall Smith too, and didn't enjoy it as much, so have held off buying any of his other ones yet.And did I tell you I cant get "Pigs Don't Fly" over here? Its not in print. Very annoying! Amazon claim to be able to deliver, but have never managed it!
I'm having problems getting Lust Lizard too actually.. Doesn't seem to be currently in print here. I can get it from Amazon re-sellers but overpriced plus postage..
I'm enjoying "A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian" at the moment.. not blowing me away at the moment, but enjoying it!
