For comic fantasy, "Pigs Don't Fly," by Mary Brown. There are other books in the series, too. Lemme think what else I've gobbled down lately...
Not much, but you know what worked a treat when I had mononucleosis? Michael Crichton! I read "The Andromeda Strain," "The Terminal Man," "A Case of Need," "Eaters of the Dead," and a bunch more. I seem to recall liking "Prey," too. I think I read them all, at least all that were out then. They went rapidly, because he's a good story teller, and those earlier books were just a romp.
(Please, no one hurt me for this) Alexander McCall Smith, too -- "Blue Shoes and Happiness" just came to live with me this week :-) Little gems, I think ClearSkies called them, and I agree. (I was walking through a shopping mall with my mother one day and she said, "You've ruined my life." Needless to say, I was quite bewildered -- turns out all she meant was that she wasn't getting anything done because she was reading ALL the "Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency" books! And Mother does NOT read novels...)
And the last one I read? "Foul Matter?" I highly recommend it. I was laughing at things and trying to tell my husband what was so funny. "The Lust Lizard Of Melancholy Cove" really was fun, which reminds me -- if you can find it, "Naked Came The Manatee" is a hoot. It may first seem pretty regional, but remember -- I loved it, and truly Florida is like another world to those of us in California... If I could enjoy it, so can you.
Hope that helps. And let me know what else you've got stashed away, too.
