I posted this on Social with no results. (Am I a pariah?)
~I love to play this game. If you were going to be marooned on an island and you could only take five things, what would they be. (Assume that your basic needs for food, water, shelter, first aid and clothing would be met.) Shall I start?
1. BOOKS. (If I could only take one it would be Mark Twain's "Roughing It".)
2. Sketch pads and pencils.
3. Bird book and binoculars.
4. An Appalachian Mountain dulcimer. (I've always wanted to learn how to play one, so I guess this would be as good a time as any.)
5. A really good crank radio. (I just think they're cool. Besides, I don't want to have to rig up some kinda bicycle-and-coconut contraption a la The Professor on Gilligan's Island.)

Ok, I'll play.
books (see above)
my journal and pens
crochet hook and yarn
crossword puzzle workbook (must have answers in back so I don't go insane NOT KNOWING)
Something that plays music - crank radio sounds good, though I'd rather have a solar batteried one, do they make those?)
Bicycleoops -- that's six isn't it. *sigh* I hate rules. Ok, so I'd leave the journal assuming I'd figure out how to make one.

I thought about my crochet hooks and yarn too, but I pictured a warm desert island and I thought all that wool in my lap would make me hot! I also thought about crossword puzzle books. (My 30-minutes crossword puzzle book got me through a lot of bad nights when my insomnia and anxiety were at their worst last year.)
BTW: I won't grudge you a 6th item.

>You so funny! Yes, it says a lot about you. But assuming all your basic needs are met, you'd have clean water and a way to make fire, so you're open for two more items!

On accounta her stuff sounds more fun than mine...
1. Books -- if I could have a small box'o'books as one item, I'd take the stack'o'stuff waiting to be read: "Lirael" "Abhorsen" "The Sicilian Romance" "Emergence: Labelled Autistic" and a few others.
2. A book of Logic Puzzles (and my mechanical pencil -- and my kneadable eraser...)
3. Knitting... With all that entails...
4. Sunscreen...
5. Either my cell phone with extra batteries, or
GARDENERGIRL!!!And, if I had one more thing -- that is, if the sunscreen was in that food box -- I'd take my MonsterCat.

I like the sketch pad and pencil, the solar powered battery, computer, crank radio, and LOTS of toilet paper! LOL
