I'm just back from a relaxing vacation. While at the beach, I read "The Catcher in the Rye"; a children's book called "All Alone in the Universe" by Lynn Perkins; and am about 1/3 of the way through "Life of Pi", which is fantastic! I also read a couple of essays from David Sedaris's "Me Talk Pretty One Day", which are very entertaining. And I almost forgot, have you seen the NY Times new summer reading feature? I read "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (Truman Capote) in daily installments. That was fun! They also put out "The Great Gatsby" and "Like Water for Chocolate", but I missed those. I don't know what the feature is this week, though. I think this books in installments feature is fantastic.

Sounds like a hot summer of reading for you. I like most of the titles you mentioned. I read "Live of Pi"....oh my. I've got my name in for
"Me Talk Pretty One Day".
I am currently reading "The curious incident of the dog in the night-time"
Very interesting point of view.

"The Great Gatsby" is one of my favorite novels. Each time I read it or a part of it, I am in awe of the beauty and brevity of Fitzgerald's writing. There is not one wasted word in the entire book. Fitzgerald was only 28 when he finished writing it. How could such a young man see so much?

I'll have to give it a try. I read it in high school and didn't like it much. But that was high school and I didn't have the most dynamic teacher. So perhaps I misjudged it....

Hi Noa. When you get around to reading it, I'll be interested to hear what you have to say. By the way, it's good to see you here. I hadn't seen you in a while, and I was wondering how you were.

I'll let you know. Of course, I've not been reading these past two weeks, because vacation is over!
I've not had much time to post, so thanks for thinking of me. I'm fine--overworked, overtired, blah blah blah, but doing pretty well despite.
How bout you?
This is the end of the thread.
