A handy use for PB Books!!

Posted by NikkiT2 on November 22, 2003, at 14:12:43

Having not used Amazon since they screwed up my order last Christmas, I'm giving them a go again. Being bored, when I signed up I've been reviewing books.. was so handy to be able to go back through PB Books to see what I'd read over the last year!! *l*

I just wish they'd give me a total of how many books I've just reviewed!! *lol*

Hi Nikki,

I was very angry at Amazon last year at Christmas time. They made two major errors, so I think I'm going to stick with Barnes and Noble this holiday season. Of course, I may end up having problems with B & N also. I think it's very difficult around the holidays because they hire so many short-term temps who are not well-trained.

Yeah.. But Amazon does simply offer the best deals around for us in the UK.. I'm in such a quandry!! *l*

Last year, on 22nd November I ordered a whole load (about 12) books for christmas presents. All books were "in stock, 3-4 days delivery" and not a single one arrived in time for christmas. Which meant I then had to go out and buy other presents for neices / nephews that are too young to understand a website screwing up.. al they'd know is Auntie Nikki didn't buy thema nything for christmas.

Its just, this year, agorophobioa is back with a really strong kick, and I really don't think I can face going into town shopping (For me, my nearest shopping is Oxford Street in London - the busiest shopping street in the UK!!)

Plus Amazon have a book I can't find anywhere else!! *lol*

Maybe my mission for today is to find other online book sellers that are good!! *l*

Hi. That's exactly what happened to me, although I ordered a bit later than November 22nd. If they had been honest about not having it in stock, I could have had time to go elsewhere and try to find the items. Instead, up until two days before Christmas, they assured me the items were "in stock." Then, the day before Christmas, they sent an e-mail saying the items were on back order. I was furious! The items finally arrived in mid-February!! I'm sure they lie about availability just so customers won't go elsewhere. The other mistake they made was sending the wrong item to a friend of mine. I had ordered a dog calendar for her, and they sent an astrology calendar!! I guess they hire a lot of temporary help right before the holidays, and they aren't properly trained.
