Hi Kiddo,This looks like fun - are we to review the book
and discuss it?Some are probably more chattable than others,
I think - I have already read:The Bell Jar - novel
Burton's - archaic, too thick and old
Kraeplin - a medical historian's text really;
I have not read the others - but the
Confederacy of Dunces looks interesting to me;
I would have to get the book out of the library
or order it - I'm not sure of the rules here -
is this a new club?Squiggles

Hiya-The rules are the same as the other babbles...the books listed here are the ones that have been submitted by members of babble...basically, we'll select a book by popularity (I do believe), and then discuss it. Sounds like you're a reader too! I love books and outread the pace of the Author, so I think this is going to be fun too.
If you have a favorite or one that you dislike, just post it under the main one...or add one to the list if you like.
Does that help?

Would you be willing to put after each book a brief note on whether it's fiction or non-fiction? And if non-fiction, what type (e.g biography, self-help, travel, etc)? And one last thing, a round-about idea of when it was written (e.g 19th C, 1990's etc), if you know?

IsoM,
Kiddo's list is just a summary of books that were already suggested in more detailed posts. I think that kind of information belongs in the posts nominating, supporting or objecting to the individual books. And if it's missing that is probably where you should make your request. I agree that its probably a good thing to remember to include in those nominating threads and I'll try to remember in the future.Jane

I can try, but it may take me a day or two...I may have to research some of it, all of that was available in most of the original posts...I went through all of them and pulled the Titles to hopefully get it more organized....

Kiddo and everybody,
I marked my votes on your list and I've come to the conclusion that we probably need a better way. I think your suggestion of having one thread per book would work better for the actual votes. Then we could just use your list to make sure we knew what titles were under consideration. But for now, if anyone else wants to put their choices on this list it might help give a preliminary idea of where we are. And maybe it won't be as impossible to read as I fear. The only things that I marked as NO are textbooks (and picture books though I exclude those reluctantly). The only things that I marked as YES are things that I think would be suitable for the first 2 books. - Jane

Kiddo - I think we've been crossing posts. I already replied to IsoM on this. In my own (NSH) opinion you really don't need to do that. The information is mostly in the original posts and when it's not it is easy enought to ask the original poster for it. All that information and more is only a few mouse clicks away for anyone who wants it. And finally, putting any more information on the original list will probably make it harder to read. - Jane

Sorry, Kiddo, I didn't know you got it in bits & pieces. I could do a quick search on amazon myself & save you the trouble of looking up. I just thought you might know off the top of your head. Thanks, sweetie, but you don't need to go to all that work for me for something I may not even read.
