I get the rage when I take Sam-e and a couple other supplements. I guess thats the Manic in me.
I was wondering if anyone has tried or read about combining Sam-e with Lithium.
From what I have read, Lithium is for bipolar.
I have both Sam-e and Serenity (lithium Orotate) here in front of me, but have yet to try them both at the same time.
My thinking is, I will get any positive benefits from Sam-e without the manic.

I use lithium orotate (not dx'd as BP though), 5mg whenever I feel I need it .. it has a modest effect on anxiety and irritability, though makes me a little spacey .. not sure what it would do for true-blue mania though ..
anyway, why not experiment with the two and find out?

He says that lithium oratate enters the brain more readily than pharmaceutical lithium. It would thus be less toxic to the body overall because at therapeutic dosages, a lower blood level is sufficient. I have elected not to make the switch at this time, though. I need to invest more time in the treatment that I am now responding to. Once I am convinced that I am nearing remission with my present regime, I will consider a substitution.

I have no idea where Orotate's place lies in the treatment of clinical BP .. as I say, it's mostly a case of self-medication and I'd be wary of recommending it to anyone else without supervision if indeed what they're experiencing is mania
