I recently sent someone a list of things that helped with some of the lingering side effects after stopping prozac. I realized most of them were alternative medicine so I decided to post them here.
magnesium - helps with anxiety, now I no longer need it.
fish oil - can help with any remaining sadness.
Neuro Optimizer by Jarrow Formulas - Helps restore some feelings and improves cognitive effects, also helps with creativity. (may cause constipation)
low dose prozac - when I take 2.5 mg prozac it helps concentration and gives me more interest in things. If I go higher than this dose it blunts emotions. (not too many side effects but can still effect libido at this dose)
Magnesium and Fish Oil had no side effects. I hope this list will benefit someone.

Fish oil may also improve brain function, increase insulin sensitivity, improve cholesterol levels, contribute to eye health, protect the brain from aging and aging related brain disease, alleviate inflammation in joints, improve skin quality, and improve cardiovascular health.
May I ask, how do you get a 2.5 mg dose of Prozac? Is it in liquid form? Capsule form?

Well, its not actually 2.5 per day. As you may know prozac has a very long half life. Its half life is 2-3 days from acute dosing and 4-6 after chronic dosing. So what I do is get a script for 10 mg tablets. They are scored and I break it in half. Then I take a half tablet, which is 5 mg, every other day. This is equivalent to 2.5 mg per day. So I'm actually taking 5 mg every other day. I would assume 2.5 liquid everyday would work just as well. Taking half a pill every day blunts my emotions. The only problem I have is headaches. They even last a while after I stop taking it. I've noticed that when I tried pristiq and now mirtazapine it has stopped those headaches. I think that I need a noradrenergic component to prevent headaches. I'm trying to find something that helps more with motivation. I might consider going back on prozac if nothing else helps. This low dose really helps with focusing on one thing and being motivated. I think this is due to increased catecholamines in the prefrontal cortex.
I need to get some more fish oil. I know longer get noticable benefits from magnesium and fish oil but it might be good over a long time. Nature can work a lot slower than meds.

Even if you don't get a noticeable effect from fish oil or magnesium, both are crucial to maintaining health and protecting from the ravages of aging. You may want to experiment with higher doses of fish oil and different DHA to EPA ratios.

The half life for fluoxetine may be what you say but the half life for it's active metabolize Norfluoxetine is 4-16 days according to Wiki. I've read and can personally testify that you may feel the effects after stopping for 4 weeks.
I would not recommend anyone try Prozac unless you have tested will with any of the other similar SSRI's that have a much shorter half life. If Prozac has a negative effect for you, you may have to endure it for a long time.

Hi,
For you guys adding Magnesium for anxiety, what dose are you on? I have a 150mg dietry supplement that I can take, is that enough per day or do I need more? And how long did you have to start on it for results to take on? Did you take anything else for anxiety in addition?
Sorry if these questions are too much I can understand if they are.

I think between 300-600 mg magnesium would be good, you should go up to 600 and see if it helps with anxiety. I don't feel the need to take it anymore.
