I have been on no meds for about 3 months and am working throught anxiety issues. I have anxiety/ocd(pure O). Anyway, I started taking calcium supplements because I don't eat dairy. I was also balancing it with magnesium. I started to get almost panic like symptoms after taking it. I felt like it kind of relaxed my brain but my body felt anxious. It is not good and I was better today after not taking anything yesterday. Anybody have this response to calcium???

Instead of taking Calcium tablets, just eat vegetables and other foods that contain calcium, that contain calcium, you can get all the calcium you require from your diet. Look up the foods in your diet and you may well be surprised how many of them contain adequate amounts of calcium.

Thank you for the response. My family doc said the same thing that I may be getting more than I think. It has taken me a few days to relax after stopping the calcium. I did feel quite a bit better the first day I stopped but some still lingers. I like to call it "after shock" as my body takes some time to recover after being upset. I have found some supplements to be very powerful indeed.

I am not well schooled on the whole calcium/magnesium thing but I have read lots an lots of stuff about the topic at many websites and forums. Basically I could sum it up like this:
Most people get plenty of calcium in a good diet.
Most people do not get enough magnesium in a good diet.
Magnesium and calcium work as a symphony, but they have to be in just the right ratio, and that ratio varies a lot from person to person. One person may need a 2:1 ratio of cal/mag, another a 1:1 ratio, and another just plain magnesium skip the calcium.
You may want to take a good look at magnesium glycinate or magnesium taurate.
Soy milks are a good source of calcium. Try several brands to find one you like.
Things to put on your google study list:
Magnesium
Taurine
Lithium Orotate
