im also taking Manganese 50 mg chelated, will it interfear with the vitamin E and the rest of my meds, Seroquel, seroxat, tranxene

If you're doing vitamin E therapy for TD, you might wanna go ahead and break up the vitamin E dose, whenever possible, into 2 parts. I think you might get better absorption that way. Good luck!

Hi J,
What sort of vitamin E do you have???? Larry Hoover recommends mixed tocopherols - not alpha tocopheryl acetate.

Hi Jeroen, Ed's right about the mixed tochopherols. But the lastest info in the States is that anything over 200IU a day is bad for you. And I used to take 800IU a day in the past. But didn't you say your eye blinking was better? Fondly, Phillipa

Hey J, I hope you don't mind if I do. The death rate thing is from not getting the best balance between all the different tocopherols. The main one you need is gamma tocopherol, which is the main form of vitamin E in food, and you may find it in a formula with mixed tocopherols in a liquid capsule. Look for one that contains a maximum of the gamma form. Once you start taking that you can take your DL alpha tocopherol acetate with it or alternately. I think that's the story.

Perhaps you could try 800 IU (units) twice a day. This dose has been used with success in patients with TD.

Not if you buy the 'mixed tocopherols'. You need to take the right type of vitamin E. Declan gave some good advice.

Any info saying that vit E is bad for you I think is reserved for the alpha tocopherol form. I don't recall this being applied to mixed tocopherols, but regardless, 1600 IU seems slightly high.
