Jeroen don't take 800mg of magnesium. I checked only raise it by 200mg a week for a few weeks. The higher dose can cause problems for you. Fondly, Phillipa

i just read this that cogentin was added geodon and TD went away.. maybe it will help me... but what on earth is a anticholinergic psychosis? i dont wanna have that. should i add cogentin to my med combo wich is seroquel 100 AM 200 PM (im much better then on 400 MG) Seroxat 30, unit tranxene 15 mg

so should i start a cogentin therapy or will it throw myself into major psychosis?

its worth a try maybe the tics will go away like in this case.... as last resort i will try Clozapine :(((((((((

To counteract the Geodon and 'test' whether he had TD, the doc prescribed Cogentin (used for Parkinsons patients). In three doses, this drug (or the combo of the two) sent him into a major drug reaction - anticholinergic psychosis. Thankfully the TD faded away, but he began to have seizures within 6 weeks and still has them daily over two years later.

should i decrease my seroquel 200 mg to 100 mg

so that would mean i take 100 mg AM and 100 mg PM from now on... i feel much better then taking 400 mg PM

Hi Jeroen

>but what on earth is a anticholinergic psychosis?

It is a state which may occur if the dose of an anticholinergic drug such as Cogentin is much too high. Confusion is one of the main symptoms. Visual hallucinations are also prominent.

>so should i start a cogentin therapy or will it throw myself into major psychosis?

No, I don't think it will make you psychotic. If you do decide to try Cogentin, it's important to start at a low dose and increase gradually. Like Akineton, you may find that Cogentin aggravates your symptoms.

hi, because if i lower dose of seroquel the blinking and uncontrolled eye movements get worse. its fact!

i have an appointment with my psy doc in months next week tuesday. The word Clozaril is still in my head, i heared it is used in dystonias, TD and all that stuff. but my doc refuse to give it to me. but i want to try this. i know the blood test is important.

Seroquel has cured my social withdrawal at low dose but it also didnt control my TD symptoms good.

anyway i still blink, so i just want to tryout clozaril but i dont wanna go into the hospital again, because its pretty stable except for the eye disease so, i better avoid it, still i want to give Clozaril a good trial. i know i will get fat but what if it helps me go on with my life.

or on the other hand it might kill me....

what should i do... go off seroquel entire and dyskinesia will get VERY BAD. try vitamine E again and other treatments, OR Clozaril

I really dont trust those doctors anymore, they are lazy and didnt warn me about tics syndrome and neurological damage, i was just scared to get fat while on geodon not aware to get blepharospasm AND nystagmus.

the thing is i want t try clozaril, but i dont like hospital. and i will suffer be very tired and stuff from this med, maybe feel like a zombie

I REALLY DONT KNOW!!!! increasing seroquel dosage helped a bit but didnt reverse or whatever

hi ed, i appreciate you read this, cim sensitive to meds, im willing to take clozapine, seroquel didnt reverse :( zyprexa :( vitamine E :( lecithin :( manganese :(

Are there effective treatments for TD?

There has never been a definitive, validated and widely accepted treatment for TD. Dozens of drugs have been tested over the past 30 years with mixed results at best. The atypical antipsychotic clozapine has been reported to reverse persistent TD after 6-12 months, possibly through gradual "down-regulation" of supersensitive dopamine D2 receptors. Some preliminary reports suggest that other atypical antipsychotics may also help reverse TD.

However, given that a large majority of persons who need antipsychotic treatment are now receiving the new atypicals and given the drastically lower incidence of TD with atypical antipsychotics, the issue of developing a treatment for TD may have become a moot one. Preventing the occurrence of TD is much more preferable to treating TD.

Jeroen, hi sweety. Ed is in the UK and is asleep now. I'm sure he will answer you tomorrow though. Sounds like you've been doing your homework. Could you start another Thread on the meds board since you're talking about a med again? Maybe that way someone will get back to you before then. Love Phillipa

Hi J

I replied to your post about clozapine on the med board :)

Could you try Botox for your blepharospasm? Botox is an approved treatment for blepharospasm in the UK and elsewhere.
