For Larry Hoover re: herbal tea

Hi Lar,

You are great! I love your posts! Keep it up!

Now for my question: I have recently been drinking a lot of herbal tea, mostly because the Wellbutrin I am on makes me very sensitive to caffeine. I know all herbal teas are probably good for you, but are there some which are especially good for you? I mean, if I am going to be drinking all this tea, I might as well maximize the health benefits, non? ;-)

All the best!

You can't generalize like that....

Not all herbal teas are good for you....I would never make such a statement.

You ought to be matching the tea to your needs and such....e.g. chamomile for calming, matte for stimulation.

This is a big topic...I don't know where to begin.

OK, so not all herbal teas are good for you. Well, a lot of evidence seems to suggest that green tea is beneficial for a number of reasons. I just discovered that red tea is also supposed to be good for you. But more specifically, are there any herbal teas which are helpful for us depressive types, esp. anxious depressives? Also, what's good for memory, if anything?

Thanks.

Red tea probably has cathartic properties ;-)

I think herbal teas on the whole, whilst useful as an adjunct to other things are generally a little weak to be classed as a first line therapy. Of course they have a double whammy effect because whilst you are drinking these, you are not drinking caffeine packed drinks or soft drinks full of additives.

I wish Aime sans vie was still around....that is his area of expertise. I'm really not much of an herbalist....other than e.g. chamomile for calming...
