Too bad you opted out, I think:

would've made a nice tweet.

Naw,

If it was Dr. Phil, we'd hear, "How's that going for you".

Again, if I had to guess I'd say a grad student or one of those he said might join here from that study.

You don't read all the boards anymore, and not all the thoughtful and intelligent posts are on Admin. I know I have plenty of truly wonderful posts bookmarked, and if a short excerpt could lead others to them, it would seem like a gift. If, of course, the poster had no objection.

OH GREAT, now the overworked Deputies have to Tweet too? and remember who said it was okay? NOT a good idea.

And, I can't catch up on all of these Admin posts. I start to have major anxiety.

Can anyone tell me if Bob has decided to post older posts or only new ones?

I think it's only proper & ethical to do so. I would never have known about this & been able to 'opt out' (apparently) except for the fact that someone put a link for this thread on the Social Board.

Dr. Bob, I think this is probably an oversight on your part & it's not my intention to judge or criticize.

I just want to point out that many of us here have safety issues & security issues & anyhow, I think it shows a general respect for others' privacy to make sure everyone has a chance to let you know if they want information regarding them (even in a shortened form) posted somewhere else.

Thanks, Kath

PS - I'm not even sure I understand the whole Twitter thing. I am assuming that it would be a totally separate thing from Babble. That you would not get to it from within Babble.

There should be one there already?

It's a web site, so links to it can be posted here. So people could get to it from here. Is that what you mean?

~ ~ ~ Oh - you're absolutely right! There is - right at the top. I often just click on the notice on my email that there's a post on a thread I'm following, so I didn't see it.
:-) sorry!

~ ~ ~ I had thought that anyone, even non-members of PB could go to Twitter, and because of that, it's sort of more 'open to the general public'. I realize that anyone can join Babble. Also, though, that tons of non-babblers will be at Twitter. Maybe I'm being sort of paranoid...I post all kinds of really personal stuff, especially about my son's life - so the uncomfortable part (one reason I opted out) was that any-old-body could read a clip or thumbnail of what "Kath" wrote - & just come to Babble to be nosy & read more about me & my life. In other words, not come here for the kind of support that we Babblers get & give to each other. I guess I don't like the thought of people coming here just out of curiosity sparked by something they read on Twitter.

It's a fairly big concern for me. Even though I'm opted out!

Kath

PS - Even given the above-mentioned concern, I think I like that you have made the option to link Babble with something that's new & 'upcoming' so that people here can be involved there also. I'd prefer it wasn't linked, but that's just me personally. I have mixed feelings about it.

I would have preferred if the default was that everyone was 'opted out' & had to apply TO be a part of Twitter. I feel sorta disappointed that it wasn't set up like that.

Thanks for having the notice at the top of each Board. I appreciate the fact that you've done that & made it very easy to get to the discussion of it, and to opt out.

Thanks & thanks for your quick reply!

:-)) Kath

Oh - PartlyCloudy's post sparked a question....

An important one, which I don't understand how it could be done....

So from now on, no 'thumbnails' or whatever, of "Kath" posts will appear on Twitter. BUT - if people come to Babble, they'll be able to read all posts on Babble, won't they? Would they be able to click on something at "PsychoBabbleTwitter" & be right IN PsychoBabble in the same way that they would if they had joined it & registered????

Sorry if I'm being dense.

Yes, but they can get here through Google, too. Guess how many people have said "I love the Spitfire Grill" online? I'm hoping neither of the other two are clues about you, but if you'd ever posted that line anywhere else, your daisies would be chained together by Google. What if you'd also logged your movie interests somewhere else, maybe on Facebook, where you (hypothetically) identified yourself and used the same phrase?

And what then if you then decided that bit of ostensibly innocuous information revealed too much personal detail? Maybe a detailed explanation, coupled with the right rhetorical genuflection, would persuade this site's administrator to remove it. But the wrong intonation in your request could prompt an "I'm the therapist acting for the good of the group. NO!" response. You could be exposed to everybody that watches CNN as "the girl who loves the Spitfire Grill" and (won the lottery/ escaped a burning building/ published an award-winning book/ or whatever gets you on CNN)

Maybe think of it like Google? Non-members can also see something there, click on it, and be right here. And they might come at first just out of curiosity, but then like the support and information they find here and decide to become members themselves.

I found Babble googling Luvox. There was a long thread between two posters that I really enjoyed, then I eventually made my way to Social. I liked the people so I stayed.

I don't see that as being terribly different from people finding Babble through Twitter.

I find other message boards through google searches. I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but I generally find them very helpful and am glad they are there. Sometimes I just read the information I need, or sometimes I might stick around and read lots about the topic.

Someone found Babble and asked me a question because of a comic strip I once quoted. I hope I was able to help him find the strip we both enjoyed.

Whether it's through google or studies or twitter, the important thing is surely that the people who might find a community here have a way to learn of Babble. Otherwise there might not be a community here for any of us.

I see some privacy issues for those who "follow" babble, since there is a network that shows who you follow, and if you also twitter under the same account elsewhere you can be linked to Babble. That's a problem for some people, less of a problem for others. I don't think I'd do it myself, but more out of a general caution than because I'm afraid of any specific fallout.

My bosses already know I see a therapist and have for a long time. They are very glad I do. :) My family and therapist not only know that I babble, but they know my Babble name.

But unless you sign up as a babble follower on Twitter, I see this as no more threatening to your privacy than google searches. Perhaps less because surely more people google luvox than will find this one twitter among all the twitter accounts out there.

Henrietta,

Anyways, that's not a good idea, i put some people under that, I loved when i was kid.

Oh my gosh.....you know something when you saying something, didnt mean it to actually come true, "walsh's/Jones's are watching"......that turned into the worst night in my life! Woke up 3 times, and i'm still in a nightmare!

Ugh.........man! have I been through this life 9 times? I don't know! one hit after the next!

I want to say goodnight, to everyone, Phil, Phillipdialphia, Gobbleduck, Heriettita, Deneb, Dr-Bob, MidnightBlue, Bobby, FB, and to everyone else! Bueno's Noches.....Good night, Need to ask, which reality I'm going to wake up to tommorow, maybe all this is nightmare, you like in those movies....wake up, ahhh nothing to worry about.

Start counting Babbler's while I go to sleep. And I must make up with Racer, that is a priority. She was the best here, that helped, really in life through a website. Phillidialphia gave me warm hugs! all these years!
