i was researching about lithium, but one question does it work right away or do you have wait for it build up in your system like SSRIs?

Well, I am no expert, but have used lithium on and off for years. I know it does have pro-serotonin effects, so you have to be careful with Prozac. Possibly, start low. I believe it's effects may take a bit to work their magic, but have found an immediate effect, in particular if taken before bedtime.
It does also cause severe nausea, so if you take it with food, this should prevent that from happening. Again, smaller doses are all that are needed for using as a depression/anxiety add-on. Just be careful.

yeah, lithium does increase serotonin, prozac ... i've known people who take lithium and pro...i was just wondering if lithium works right away, or it has to build up in your system like a SSRI does.
i rerember when i was in the psych they gave me a low dose, i could feel a bit diffrent, but im just wondering about that

It can work quickly for depression. It actually shares some of the 'fast-acting' targets of drugs like ketamine. That being said, it usually takes a week or two till full stabilization is achieved. Also, over time, it can produce neurotrophic effects which may further aid stabilization.
