Is there something against anxiety with no cognitive dulling?

Baclofen perhaps?

Have you tried/considered/looked into Propranolol? It's a beta blocker but often given for stage fright etc. I only took it for a short time and at a low dose but seemed helpful for anxiety.

One study tested cognition and didn't find it had much impact:

low to moderate dose bzd drugs aren't too terrible w/ cognition. I was thinking the xanax xr might also lift your mood a notch and maybe help you reduce the neuroleptics a tad.

I'm with you bro.. I like to play musical instruments. Any dulling drugs reduce the ability to play. Luvox doesn't seem to impair my playing ability. Another option would be Savella / Ixel or perhaps Fetzima. Emsam can help anxiety for some people without dulling.

Lemon balm. Short term, as needed.

The best in the world is Rhodiola Rosea. Longterm. While it is primarily known as anti-fatigue, pro-brain, and stimulant, it is a very good antidepressant and amazing anti-anxiety. But it doesn't do the anti-anxiety in a way meds do. Feels very natural.

The only drawback is that it has stimulant-like side effects in the first few days or couple weeks and that is when most people ditch it, not realizing they should instead lower the dose to a tolerable level so as to buy the needed time. It takes 6-12 weeks to really do its magic. It is not like benzos but works better than them after it kicks in.

To get those custom doses you can tolerate requires emptying capsules to make your own custom doses. For example, a capsule on a plate divided into 4 equal sized piles is easy to do and easy to dose....it tastes good, sort of like roses, so you can just sprinkle the powder on whatever food. Or load gel caps. Whatever. The point is....you need to wait weeks for the true benefit....but you might have to use custom doses to get that far. And then you will be happy as heck you did.

Rhodiola has worked like magic on everybody I have suggested it to, except for the ones who did not follow the advice of custom doses. They are still sick.

There are other herbs also. But the two above are star performers and it makes sense to start there.

You probably have heard about gotu kola. In Isan the herb is juiced and sold as "Nam bai bua bok" which translates to "heartbreak drink". It's effects are subtle and it has mixed well with every med I have ever taken. Usually sold in bunches like parsely. I've eaten whole bunches to find little or no noticeable effect yet find results when I take 2 capsules Now brand or Natures way twice daily. If it works in Isan, I think there must be some merit to it. I use it as an add-on. Another babbler takes it with eleuthero. Hang in there bud.

I hhavent read all of the above posts but was going to suggest Parnate an MAOI which is supposed to work really well for SP and be stimilating and energizing rather than sedating.PB

Bleau very interested in your Rhodiola suggestion. Have tried it in the past but not in recent years, and might want to give it a go attempting to isolate its effect.

Do you have recommendation in terms of brand, dose, and dosing? I am 260lbs. I also am on Parnate and Wellbutrin but have residual fatigue anhedonia and social demotivation/anxiety. I am not sure if there are any major issues with Rhodiola and MAOIs, but I tend to tolerate adjuncts to MAOIs pretty well.

I'd love to hear more about your experience with Rhodiola, and what you think its mechanism of action might be....

Thanks
