Hi, all. It seems consensus is that lamotrigine is typically best dosed at 200 mg daily for either unipolar or bipolar depression. If using it for adjunctive treatment for both depression and OCD, would raising the dose any higher be of any benefit? I plan to ask the pdoc to continue raising it until I notice cognitive difficulties but I thought I'd inquire here first. Thanks, all. Oh, here's my current cocktail
Fluvoxamine 200 (increasing to at least 300mg)
Vyvanse 70 mg
Lamotrigine 100 (increasing to 200 mg)
Lorazepam 2 mg
Abilify 10 mg

higher doses above 200mg are mainly for mood stablization, not depression, i was on 400mg and i noticed it made me "boring stable" didnt really have a thrive or feel fun.......but it's diffrent for everyone because of of nuero chemistry......
200mg you could take at night and maybe it would last during the day, or 100mg in morning and 100mg at night.......
it does help mood flucuations, and some depression i have noticed but it makes things feel boring with me......ill be in a fun mood, and after it takes effect it's stablized alot of nuero's

Thank you for your feedback. Perhaps a higher dose may provide additional benefit for OCD but not for depression and I'll be more reliant upon other meds for that purpose.

Yes, absolutely. The main mechanism of action in Lamotrogine affecting your oCD is its glutamate inhibiting action. The higher the dose the more glutamate inhibition occurs.we want to inhibit glutamate in people with OCD because levels of glutamatein in OCD patients tend to be abnormally high.

you can go as high as 800 mg if you want.
Have you ever tried riluzole?
