CES for insomina

Posted by jpa on August 2, 2015, at 9:01:54

Looking for some user experiences with CES devices with regards to insomnia. Thanks to Hugh for suggesting this product. I'm looking for other user experiences.

Thanks

The only thing I know about Ultra is its price -- $349. Sota Bio Tuner (my CES unit) is $225.

I don't know of any Nexalin providers in Canada. There are quite a few LENS (another brain stimulation device) providers in Canada:

And a couple NeuroField providers:

Ultra CES works...it's for real. But after two days of use, it appears to only provide modest relief of anxiety. I'm hoping the impact may prove cummulative, so I'll keep using it for a while and see if it helps with my insomnia.

I hope it helps with your withdrawal from Phenibut. I took lorazepam almost every night for three years for insomnia. I increased my dosage twice because of tolerance, and then it started causing all kinds of problems. It took me four months to finish my taper, and I felt on edge for months after I quit lorazepam. But I eventually got much better.

What did you do after tapering from lorazepam? Did you stay meds fee?. That's what I'm trying to do right now. I've been off phenibut for a week and off valium for two days. I quit anti depressants last December
. I would stay on the meds if they worked, but all they do is give me side effects with next to no benefits. In the 25 years of fighting this illness I have tried just over 50 meds...no joke.

It's been a tough week and it will get worse before it gets better. CBT and the CES device are helping a little. I just hope I have the fortitude to hold out long enough to assess the true degree of the underlying illness as it stands today and find new ways to cope.

Best,
John

Did you taper Valium or quit cold turkey? Some people are able to quit benzos cold turkey with no problems, but many people aren't. If things get too rough, you might want to start taking Valium again and taper it very slowly. Here's a tapering schedule:

http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/bzsched.htm

These might help with your withdrawal, though I wasn't able to tolerate a high dose of niacinamide:

http://orthomolecular.org/library/jom/2004/pdf/2004-v19n02-p104.pdf

I tried quite a few meds, but not as many as you. Ones that increased serotonin levels didn't help me, and in some cases made me feel worse. The only meds I'm taking now are atenolol and low dose naltrexone (LDN). LDN increases endorphin levels, and helps me a little.

Though I'm far from well, I'm doing much better than I was while on benzos. I've mentioned before that I was helped by neurofeedback, and I plan on doing more of it. I don't know where in Canada you live, but the best-known neurofeedback clinicians in Canada are Paul Swingle in Vancouver:

And Lynda Thompson in Toronto:

If you decide to try neurofeedback, it might be best to wait until you've been off your meds for several months. I know that my brain felt frazzled during my benzo withdrawal, and for months after I was benzo free.

Good luck.

That's what I tried. I did a quick taper of valium, but that combined with a quick taper of phenibut was too much. So last night I went back on 10mg of valium, which I plan to taper off more slowly.

Valium by itself leaves me with a bad headache in the morning. That's not much better than what I experience after a sleepless night. So I have incentive to get off valium.

I have concerns about CBT when it is administered to someone with an underlying GAD like anxiety disorder. But I plan on going to some sessions paid through work to see if they help.

I'll look into neurofeedback.
