How are you doing?
I think you should take a small dose of zyprexa. 2.5mg?

thank you, i am better. still vulnerable but better. i finally cracked.
yes, happy New Year and into the hospital for a bit. the swelling in fingers and upper extremeties was due to blood pressure change from dropping meds 'cold-turkey'. lets just say i'm damn lucky and not mention the absurd stupidity from my lack of lucidity.hydration, zofran and getting a 10mg shot in the a$$ of zyprexa allowed me to sleep for slightly over 16 hours. Which when i woke in the hospital i honest to God did not know how many 'days' i had been in there... yes it seemed like at least 2 or 3. i was actually too scared to ask anyone, so i waited until i left to be assured it had only been one day. i would have stayed another but i'm already putting us in debt the beginning of the year. back on zyprexa zydis (generic of course)... it helped last couple nights, but the initial "wonder slumber" of generic is wearing off
i am mostly unplugged these days, cept for little internet in the evenings. not checking emails, have not gone to work and not checking phone. i'm actually shutting it off at nights. LOTs of baking.
-its all helping.i have just had too much this fall, 1)my typical crap time of year, 2)stress work trips, 3)2 deaths, 4)thanksgiving 6)Christmas mayhem -which i'm opting to change next year. 7)major work stress 8)taking a class, and to top it all off... 9)living off 3-5 hours sleep for the last 4+ months. oh. yes, and i forgot to mention my cancer scare... (why do i hear the song of 12 days of Christmas as im typing this??)
then i see 1 BAD youTube video and all H3ll breaks loose within.
alas, i am back on zyprexa 10mg
pristiq 100mg
10mg x 1 will gradually go back up only as needed.i do much appreciate your call-out both of you.
and thank you for letting me vent.
it felt....nice. sometimes i really forget there are others... although 'cyber' others, still others that understand and help as they can.
i thank you for that.ps. zyrexa this generic i found as unrelated to the other mfg's that did not work for me this one is called = APOTEX

It sounds like you've definitely been through a lot, B2chica, but it's good to hear from you. From the sound of it, it seems that your hospital stay was beneficial, and I'm very glad to hear you say that you're better, albeit vulnerable. Without a doubt, you've endured an enormous amount of stress over the past few months, and I think that pretty much anybody would have had difficulties keeping up with your day-to-day responsibilities given that you were averaging about four hours of sleep a night and that you had some emotionally taxing situations to go through. Hopefully the next few months will be less stressful for you than the previous few months have been so you won't feel as overwhelmed as you were feeling several days back.
I wish you the best as you begin to move forward with things again.

Hi!
Good to hear from you. What a lot you've been through.... but things have improved. You always need to be hopeful for the future (essential)... and accept that you can't change everything but there are many things you can do.
Zyprexa 10mg injection 'kicks in' a lot stronger than a 10mg tablet because it produces a much higher blood level (and therefore brain level) shortly after the injection. The tablets have a milder but more continuous effect. Do you have a brand of tablets you like now?
Glad you could vent. We all need to vent sometimes.

Glad to hear you are back on zyprexa! I think you will find that the generic z is better than no z. It also just takes some getting used to. And that you might need a higher dose of it than brand.
What is the shot like? My doc is always trying to get me to take one. I refuse because it expensive and afraid that it will wear off towards the end of month.
I have not tried apotex yet. Is it more like brand z?
Please stick with the zyprexa. I think you will feel a lot better on it than not. Sorry you had to go to the hospital to get back on z.
I'm starting to feel like all types of generic z are good. I started taking some of the aurobindo that I have left over, so I can take extra when I need it till it runs out. Also I may get a script for 20mg z. I had a ruff xmas also and needed more z than the 15mg I was taking, some of the time.

Hello!
B2 would have had the short-acting rapid-release Zyprexa injection. It is designed to start working after 20 minutes. The effects are strong for several hours and it lasts for about one day.
>My doc is always trying to get me to take one. I refuse because it expensive and afraid that it will wear off towards the end of month.
The long acting Zyprexa injection (given every 2 or 4 weeks) is a different product. It is not for use in an emergency; it is a replacement for the tablets in people who cannot reliably take tablets. There are some safety issues with the long-acting injection and it has no place in treating people who can consistently take the tablets. The main role for this injection is in treating schizophrenia in those who are too unwell to be relied upon to take their meds.

Thanks ed. didn't want it anyways. So why does my pdoc want me on injections? She has been trying to get me to take them for years.

>So why does my pdoc want me on injections? She has been trying to get me to take them for years.
Do any of the following reasons apply?
- You miss doses because you forget
- You miss doses because when you're unwell you don't believe you need medication
- You have a history of overdoses, making your doctor cautious about prescribing tablets to you
- Your doctor has reason to think that you don't take your medication as prescribed
- You take different doses to the prescribed dose
- Your doctor is worried that you could relapse due to not taking your medication correctly

The only one of those that applys to me, is I some times take an extra 5mg of zyprexa. I thought she was ok with it, but maybe I'm wrong.

It's common to take 'as needed' doses. Just ask her. A lot of people on depots are also given tablets to take in this way.
It doesn't sound like you need to be on a depot.
In practice, Zypexa depot is the least convenient of all depots, and this has substantially reduced its use. It's the only one which requires three hours of monitoring after every single injection - hardly convenient. Other depots are just 'inject and go'.
This is the end of the thread.
