I'm so tired of meds. Give me a back and legs that don't pain every time I walk, so I can do things and taste and smell. And my health back and I'd be a pretty happy camper. My routine has changed I just fall asleep granted still take the benzos but fear stops me from taking them and no support at all just a partner that yells at me and criticizes me. Sorry for the rant. oh, phillipa...I'm sorry!
I'm sick of meds, too. All shrinks offer are pills. Then, you need more pills. And different pills. Maybe ECT? Maybe a hospital, dearie?
Such nonsense.

Mood stabilizers generally aren't enough for me to deal with symptoms of depression. Lamictal is supposed to be "great" for bipolar depression, but it's really not that strong of a med, if you have depression (unipolar or bipolar) you really should try antidepressant therapy. But I know it's hard to find an antidepressant that doesn't have a lot of crappy side effects. I'm not familiar with the med you mentioned...I've been having really good success with mirtazapine lately...it doesn't have the side effects like the SSRIs do...
Some pdocs think antidepressants are bad to use in bipolar patients...but what else are you supposed to do if the mood stabilizers aren't enough? Is there even a mood stabilizer that exists that works really good on depression? Seroquel maybe?
I think Lamictal+antidepressant is a good combo, for unipolar or bipolar... herpills

Phillipa, do you feel like you currently have adequate pain management for your back/legs? Chronic pain can make depression/anxiety a lot worse, at least in my experience. herpills

I would definitely lighten up a bit on the anticonvulsants (and perhaps the supplements). Amoxapine might be worth a try - supposedly a better antidepressant than antipsychotic though.
Coffee? Cocoa powder really helps me.
Depression specific supplements (EPA, folic acid, b12)

Hi I take nothing for it. Seriously what is the point. As what if I were to injure something I wouldn't know. Forgot to say add osteoporosis into the mix. What a pickle. And here I exercise all my life. Some times you have to wonder don't you? Phillipa

After five months at full dose, I am not impressed by lamictal. I have been titrating down.

Well, I think it's true that effects of lamictal neg or pos do not begin to show up until about 200mg. It's worth a try since it's on board.

Hmm, it made me loose hair so i ditched it.
Metformin is causing me to get balder, too. But i find this the lesser evil of the two: Overweight - baldness.
This is the end of the thread.
